Ron wasn't there to vote on this bill, but if he would've been there, he likely would've voted "no." This bill seems to be a clear violation of the 10th amendment.

Yeah,, but look at all the "Pro-Gun" folks that voted for more gun regulation.
Think about that next time some lying Fu** says he is Pro-2nd amendment.

Yeah, it's disappointing that only seven Republicans voted against this bill. Even among those seven who voted against it, several members such as Peter King voted against it because they're opposed to concealed carry. As far as I know, Justin Amash is the only rep who voted against it because of 10th amendment concerns.

10th amendment concerns?
What about 2nd amendment concerns?
It is nothing but another database of CW carriers. It is a continuation of gun control.

I really don't see why we need a federal gun law beyond the one they wrote in 1787.

Am I wrong in assuming that the Dems and Obushma will help us out to kill this? Of course, the anti gunners win the propaganda war either way with this turd of a bill.

It almost feels like this congress is on a power trip. They're enamored with the control of the house that they feel they can pass ideological legislation without repercussion, and call anyone who is against it a traitor. Remember the vote on "In God We Trust" a few weeks ago. Now this. It's quite sad.

While I do not agree with the Constitutionality of this bill, as it is clearly the federal government overstepping their bounds, the results could be good for states like NJ, at least on the surface.

Unfortunately I live in NJ which is an extremely socialist state. It is a may issue state, and you won't get a carry permit unless you are politically connected or work in as a corrupt cop or in the correction department.I know of one fellow with a NJ carry permit pulled over for speeding while DUI, and of course carrying. The state trooper calls for backup, and drives the guy home and the two troopers drive back to get the other police car from the side of the road. No repercussions for DUI, and none for his carry permit when the guy apparently was so drunk he could hardly speak. NJ is extremely corrupt.

Regardless, if this law passes my understanding is I would be able to CC in NJ with an out of state permit. That certainly would be nice as I live a couple miles from the #2 violent crime city in the country, which was just demoted from #1 this past year. On teh surface that sounds nice, but in reality I don't think it would do any good. In NJ you have a duty to retreat even in your own home. I can see anyone who defends themselves against an armed assailant attempting to commit a violent crime would be locked up for life. So it comes down to who you fear more, an armed assailant or the government? Even if this law passed I would be reluctant to CC here as any time I'd need to defend myself I'd likely either be dead from an armed criminal or locked up for life by some other armed criminals (NJ police and judiciary). I think I would have better results trying to reason with a hardened violent criminal intent on killing me that the government here in NJ, and death vs life in prison is pretty much the same result only death has a much shorter period of suffering.

Just some perspective from a firm believer in the Second Amendment and vocal supported of CC, OC, and the right to defend oneself.

Yeah, regarding NJ:
I'm pretty sure NJ and like states are imprisoning people for *possession* of a firearm in public.
If this bill says you can carry it concealed in all 50, how does that address the fact that simple possession can still land you in trouble?
How is this bill going to make it so that NJ residents don't have to get fingerprinted and combed over before they can even *buy* a gun?
Isn't protecting concealed carry putting the cart before the horse?
