Ann & Kirby tell us why phone banking is the best thing (outside of donating money) you can do to help Ron Paul win the early primaries needed to secure the Republican nomination.

Phone banking has proved now that it works after this Bloomberg Iowa Poll:

"Although the top candidates are spending less time in Iowa than prior election cycles, likely caucus participants are hearing from them on a regular basis.

Almost a fifth say they have been contacted by six or more of the campaigns through e-mail, direct mail, telephone or by someone coming to their door during the past year. Forty-four percent say they have been contacted by three to five campaigns.

Paul’s campaign leads for voter contact, with about two thirds of respondents saying they’ve heard from his campaign."

"The poll reflects the race’s fluidity, with 60 percent of respondents saying they still could be persuaded to back someone other than their top choice, and 10 percent undecided. Paul’s support is more solidified than his rivals, while Cain’s is softer."

Is anyone else having technical issues with phone from home today? I keep having "application errors".
I'm going to make a few calls through RP2012.org for a while now, then run to walmart. We'll see what its doing later.

I hope this is because there are so many people making calls that its causing errors ... wishful thinking.

I've gotten word that the phone from home servers are a bit overloaded since the release of this video (WOW!) but the campaign is installing new ones tomorrow. Don't think we have too many callers... we will never have enough callers, continue to encourage your friends to sign up, stay patient and try again.

1. it is an automated system. You call a number and it automatically connects you to the numbers you need to call without any effort on your part. You simply have to be at your computer and mark the results you recieve.

2. it's a survey, and you will be asking them questions. You can really just follow a script. No need to deviate.

3. Not really. Keep in mind your not persuading people to support Ron Paul. All your doing is asking them who they support and what their issues are. You get this info so the campaign can target that person and let them know where Ron stands on the issues they are most concerned about.

If you get anxious and cannot continue simply mark "done making calls" and you will be disconnected.

At Liberty HQ and you just surveying voters or are you doing persuasion calling?

There are only 4 questions. The first two ask for the first and second choice in the Primary. The second two ask for the most important and second most important issues to the voter in the election. You enter the answers as they are provided. You really don't need to practice a 'script.'

Mostly surveying but we do have a persuasion script that we've only recently started using and we identify the best phone bankers to do those. Everyone can do the survey it's easy, the persuasion takes a little more thought and perhaps some training.

I'm not sure. I know that they can monitor how many calls you've made, your conversion rate, everything so they may start inviting specific volunteers to do the persuasion but if you really want to know give the number in the video a call.

The funnel of registered voters to identified Ron Paul people is pretty sharp, so there needs to be a lot of people doing polling phone banking as opposed to following up. But reaching out to undecided is probably first done by mail and other advertising.

In the video, she says thats shes converted about 30 people but the script says that the calls are not meant to campaign but to gather opinions?

Maybe it will make more sense to me when I can complete an actual survey but am I off on this?

If you are at a phone banking center, after you've identified all callers in specific areas, a few people are selected to do persuasion scripts. People are typically trained a bit though before we let them make persuasion calls. Ann has done the persuasion calling.

when i was calling the script it did have a part for us to identify that the call is sponsored by the Ron Paul campaign. I'm pretty sure if you DON'T identify it as such it is against FEC rules.

The physical phonebanks sometimes do different calls than PfH. Yes, we have to ID at the end of the call.

The NH phonebank spent all day calling undecideds using the data the PfH people gathered. This is how we win!

Why do you think we are polling so well in IA and NH? It is because of the efforts of the phone banks and the phone from home program. If you truly want to see Dr Paul win in these early states then start volunteering your time for this effort. The phone from home delivers the greatest results per hour of time than anything else you can do for the campaign.

The screen is so small on smartphones relative to all the info on the survey. I prefer my laptop so I don't have to strain to read. You can try it out, if your smart phone allows you to get on the internet while talking simultaneously.
