Asked on the CBS News program "Face the Nation" whether he agrees with Republicans who oppose federal abortion payments in cases of rape or incest or to protect the life of a mother, Gingrich said: "No. First of all, I think you should have funding in the case of rape or incest or life of the mother, which is the first step."

WOW. This is all we need. If Gingrich rises in Iowa significantly, the campaign should create – and I'd normally be against this kind of thing – an attack ad that contrasts Gingrich and Romney's abortion positions with Ron Paul's.

I guess you are probably right when you combine the funding and the allowance for rape and incest. I still think, even in Iowa, this will not be as big an issue. If it is, Santorum should win or at least place top 2-3 with Bachmann right there. Most of the candidates are not firm social conservatives and even fewer are against federal funding of just about anything.

Personally, I support abortion. But being federally funded is stupid. Abortion is a private matter.
