Ha yeah right. By the time the next FEC report comes out, it'll be primary time and no one will remember Cain's assertions. That is, assuming he's still even in the race by then.

eta: His website says he has raised barely over a million for his Iowa Fund in the last 7 days. I call bs on his $9 million claim. That would imply he was raising MORE per week BEFORE he started his online fundraising push. Ill give him 4 or 5 million since Oct 1 but $9 would mean his fundraising has fallen way off since the scandal started.

regardless, I am sure a ton of those people were 1 time donors. However, we need to work to make tomorrow a success. Twitter, Facebook, Blogs, Comment Sections and email

It wouldn't surprise me. Look at how the masses flocked to bolster Perry early on.

I call shenanigans. There's no way he raised that much, but if he did, it's from PACs and the Koch Bros.

If it's true then his fundraising has been drying up really bad since the scandal broke. He's only got $1.2m raised in the last week according to his website. That would mean roughly $7.8m for the month of October, which is nearly $2m per week average. His fundraising has been down around 40%.

only $1.2m in the last week? we've only raised like $200k since BTO. not that I'm not a little optimistic about tomorrow, but let's compare apples to apples here

I'm honestly not sure I believe him. His numbers keep contradicting eachother. It could possibly be media carelessness, but I just have a big question mark where this guy's credibility is concerned.

Who said anything about RP's numbers? We're talking about Cain's $9 million assertion. Stay on topic.

He's probably thinking that if he puts out that tons of money is rolling in, it will be a self-fulfilling lie. People like to support something if they think others are too.

For these numbers, Cain needs only 3600 people to max out--that's easy for someone who is at the top of the polls. All these bankers, investors, lawyers, and energy employees (and their wives) throw money around like it grows on trees.

His Q3 claims were a lot of smoke, but now that he's dveloped a cult of followers, it's posible.

Paul's fundraising took off in September 2007 when he added a ticker.
Cain's fundraising has taken off now with the addition of a ticker.

Solution at Paul 2012: no permenent ticker!

Never underestimate the stupidity of the public, especially with talk radio pumping him as the answer to Romney/Obama. That's all I'm saying.

If he has next to no ground game and obviously not spending it on high quality ads, then what is he spending it on? Something just doesn't add up with Cain. Seems like I find myself disliking Cain with every passing day. The man is a con artist and he's happily selling these people a bunch of nothing. Cain truly is a piece of work.

I do wonder why Cain can run one (copying Ron) when Ron can't.

I think Cain is lying and not saying this because im a Paul supporter. Here is why: 1. Him and his campaign have been making statement after statement that they then have to go and walk back. 2: Mark block went on tv and blatantly LIED about kraushaar mother/son.. The campaign has no credibility, so with that I wouldnt put it past Mark Block to completely fabricate these #s knowing that they dont have to report #s till after the primaries, pray for a top 2 or 3 finish, then hope the $$ rolls in before reporting date to back up his claims..

I think you may be right just because their 9 mill doesn't seem to go with keeping the 'let's reach $999,999' ad up for so long and their various brags about raising money conflicted with each other, it seemed to me. However, their pushing $5 fridays DOES make it sound like they have some big donations they want to offset so they can say the average donation was lower.

Judging from the ads his campaign has produced up to this point, does it really matter how much money Cain has?

There is no way he made 9 million dollars from just average voters. He's either fabricating a lie for attention to his campaign, or he's getting cash from some federal reserve buddies and calling it the work of voters.
