Not to change the subject, but I really think Obama is going to have a dumb moment or two when its his turn. He is such a moron without the teleprompter that Rick Perry will look smart beside him. Obama's mmh uhhhh, uhhh, pookie! is annoying

When Lloyd Bentsen made little Danny Quayle look like a deer caught in the headlights it was pretty comical as well.

When Lloyd Bentsen made little Danny Quayle look like a deer caught in the headlights it was pretty comical as well.

Quayle actually won that debate, on the merits. But the only thing anybody recalls is Bentsen's JKF slapdown moment. A sober reminder not to invest too much importance in the minutia of today's cable debates.

I do remember it well. I also remember wondering why he didn't immediately say, 'Perhaps not, senator, but neither are you.'
I also remember wondering why, just before that, he was talking up a Democrat who was anything but a spendthrift. But, you know, that's what the Republicans had become by then.
