Washington State gives the boot to state run liquor stores tonight

60 percent voted to privatize liquor sales and close down the state run liquor stores. I was surprised this passed after watching all the fear mongering ads against it. Media is in full swing with talking about all the people losing their jobs. Guess the state will have to find another revenue stream.

It's about time! And to think all they had to do was look at other states which have successful private run stores as a model. Geez, I wonder if anyone has computed the amount of taxpayer dollars spent throughout the years to keep liquor stores open?

Geez, I wonder if anyone has computed the amount of taxpayer dollars spent throughout the years to keep liquor stores open? Probably not, but you can bet the state has computed their loss of revenue by overcharging for their booze at the expense of the consumer.
