Not trying to waste time on debating poll numbers, but as I am a fairly new RP supporter, how did RP do in straw polls last go around?

It seems like straw polls would be a better indicator of voter turnout than landline phone polling.

Thanks!

Straw polls are a test of organizational strength, nothing more. They are not an indicator of actual voter turnout. The average voter will not turn out to vote in a non-binding strong poll.

The reason for all the recent straw poll wins is to deny the other campaigns the media bump from a win. We already know damn well they won't report it if Ron wins.

He didn't win any of the big ones. He won a ton of the little kind we are only bothering with now if people who live there want to get involved. The kind Cain is running around spending time on, like the one in Tuscaloosa Alabama while Ron was winning 82% of the one of Iowa residents, where there is a caucus in two months.

In 2007/2008 Ron didn't win CPAC, he didn't win SRLC, he didn't win the California straw poll, etc etc etc. Romney did. This time, after Romney was trounced by Ron two CPACs running, Romney decided not to do straw polls, not wanting to lose, and figuring his 2007 organization was still there, I guess, and they are expensive, requiring essentially a get out the vote effort for the big ones like the Iowa straw poll.

In 2007 Ron didn't get fourth highest total ever in the Iowa straw poll (higher than Mitt Romney got 4 years ago -- only Randy Travis appearing for Bachmann caused him to lose it this time imho. Ron had hot dogs and an inflatable slide.) People go on and on about it only being organizational strength, but in a caucus state like Iowa, organizational strength is what matters. It is why Obama beat Hillary in the caucus states (Hillary beat Obama in the primary voting states, largely. In Texas, which has both, Hillary won the ballots and Obama won the caucuses.)

Ron is doing very well, which makes the lack of media attention absolutely infuriating, because voters not closely tuned in figure if they aren't hearing about you, you aren't in the mix.

as for only doing the straw polls to keep them reporting it for others, that is only after we DIDN't do Florida, having gotten nothing much out of an extraordinary Iowa showing, and having JUST won the California straw poll to no fanfare, then Cain won Florida and suddenly straw polls matter. So now we have to do them, the big ones, anyhow. The little neighborhood ones we only do if people there feel like it. When Ron wins, he 'stuffed the ballot box', but Cain's buses are ignored (that happened at Value Voter Summit, for example.)

MSNBC FINALLY noted in a story that Cain's people were standing with an envelope of free tickets and no takers in Des Moines last week for that straw poll, when Ron won 82% of the Iowa resident vote, but Cain came in a closer second to Paul in out of state bused in folks.

sound bitter much?

lol!

But, yeah, Paul is way ahead of where he was.
