I did a search, didnt see this. This HAS NOT PASSED YET, but we need to get this STOPPED!!

If you live within 100 miles of any US boarder or coast line.....welcome to your new police state.

Haven't seen or read anything about this here but this really needs to get out there. Scary stuff indeed. Totally political across the board. Republicans right down the line. Dems fighting it. (I hate 'em both btw)

H.R.1505 - National Security and Federal Lands Protection Act - Would give DHS / Customs and Border Patrol absolute power and authority. OVER Everything on ALL federal lands within 100 miles of our boarders and coastlines! Completely throwing out ALL environmental laws and plenty of others. They would be king with absolutely NO one to hold them accountable.

Just to give you an idea of how far and sweeping this legislation is....originally it included ALL private land too. But not enough Republicans supported that version. Though SOME did!

They could build roads, shut down oil and gas development, control farming / cattle grazing, dam rivers, put up fences, close areas off to all kinds of activities like hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling. hiking, etc etc. The list goes on and on.

2/3rd's of the US population would effectively come under the control of DHS.

This is not a left or right thing folks. This is about freedoms being taken away and ultimate power and authority. It's about BIG Gov't run amok. Getting bigger and bigger. Very bad indeed.

The measure also waives 36 major environmental laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the National Park Service Organic Act, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, the National Historic Preservation Act and the Clean Air Act.

"The laws from which the Dept. of Homeland Security would be exempt include the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the National Historic Preservation Act, the Clean Air Act, the Coastal Zone Management Act, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act and virtually every other piece of environmental legislation passed by Congress."

"The bill would give the secretary of homeland security total operational authority over all federal lands within 100 miles of the U.S. international and maritime borders. Under the proposed law, DHS would have immediate access to, and control over, any public land managed by the federal government"

"It's a federal land grab at its worst," Tester said. "I just can't see how any lawmaker would think it's a good idea to allow the Department of Homeland Security to make sweeping decisions about our land and ignore our rights without any public accountability."

"As drafted, this bill could impact approximately 54 units of the national park system, 228 national wildlife refuges, 122 units of the National Wilderness Preservation System managed by Interior, and 87 units of BLM's National Landscape Conservation System, resulting in unintended damage to sensitive natural and cultural resources, including endangered species and wilderness,"

Bottom line is we're handing over the country to a gov't police state with hardly even a whimper. This is very bad legislation that is quietly making it's way through congress under the radar. Very "Orwellian".

I'm not normally one to get too involved in this kind of stuff. One of the reasons I live where I do is to stay out of the worlds political BS as much as possible. But this bill scares me.

Wake up sheeple! This is your land and your country!

Thanks for the heads-up on this. It was news to me.

It's starting to make the rounds, but just barely. I searched LRC and got zero results.
