View Full Version : The media aren't wrong for saying they "cannot confirm" the numbers.

They are telling the truth. Independent confirmation requires a 3rd party source like the FEC.

We know in our hearts the numbers are true, but outside of the RPHQ, the MSM has no way to vouch for any specific number for the sake of journalistic procedure.

they are wrong in they way they say it:

Legit way w/o spin: According to the campaign they raised 4.3 million dollars.
Spin way: The website claims that there is 4.3 million raised...of course we can't confirm these numbers so its probably a lie

The campaign didn't even send out a press release saying exactly how much they raised... we just have the AP piece.

I understand what you are saying but they should ask themselves why a politician with as much integrity as Ron Paul has (his record of sticking to his word is unparalleled in politics) would destroy his career with a dumb lie like fudging fundraising amounts.

Well, Jesse Benton has mention several totals in interviews yesterday. So some of those "we can't confirm 2.5 million" statements shouldn't have been made.

They're just trying not to get burned. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof, and yesterday was extraordinary. Moreover, no press release.

I think it's fine for the media to say that that they cannot confirm the amount. That's true.

But I feel pretty certain that if McCain, or Thompson, or Romney, or Giuliani raised that much in a day, the media wouldn't be so skeptical. They'd probably just report that so-and-so raised a ton of money and broke a record. But, we'll probably never find out since none of them will raise as much money as we just did for Dr. Paul.

You are fighting a losing battle. Paul attracts the black helicopter crowd (which is fine) but they will always believe there is a vast right and left wing conspiracy out to get him and that every move they make is calculated to do damage to his campaign.

To say that they can not verify his numbers is legit and truthful.

yeah...they can't confirm cause the numbers keep going up and up up up.
