The terms of service when you sign up in either service pretty much states that they can do this I imagine. Not saying that it is right, but it really isn't violating your privacy as you agree to give that information when you sign up.

Google and Facebook are both in bed with the government and generally do their bidding. Google's messing with their algorithm probably to block the dissemination of Prison Planet articles which for a long time were able to be pushed to the top of Google's top searches.
