The commenter Jimmy is an active Marine. I am a former Marine. Isn't the military for "providing for the common defense" not to provide jobs.

Being that you are a former marine, keep preaching the message in a positive and tactful way. You won't win them all, but it will mean something coming from you.

The only candidate that is going to "keep" him employed is him. But at face value, he sounds like a socialist. If he "needs" something given to him, then I hear Obama is handing out QE's EUI checks, once you get laid off from Mcdonald's as the fry guy first. Yeah, even then you have to WORK first. always, that WORK thing getting in the way......

Why cant he just stay in the service?

I think he is worried that candidates like Ron Paul would cut military spending and he might lose his job. That's why I pointed out that if the war ends, military spending will be cut no matter what. Unless he is suggesting he would vote for someone who wants to continue the war in order to justify keeping a large military... honestly I have no idea what he is trying to say.

What Sir Lowry Said. Unfortunately its a tough sell because the media spins it the other way, but its 100% true, and history can prove it.

See my post here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?327675-How-to-respond-to-this&p=3711277&viewfull=1#post3711277

Basically, GAO data shows that by 2040 every $ the federal govt. collects will go towards Social Security, Medicare, and interest on the national debt - there will be no money left for defense (ask your Marine friend what he thinks of that). The cuts have to happen NOW, including military cuts, or we will all be defenseless tax slaves living in a nation no longer worth defending.

When someone says they'll vote for whoever supports the government's continued payouts (and I'm not equating payouts with handouts here - military service justifies compensation), what they're really saying is "Whoever will make every American a tax slave by 2040 will get my vote".

Sometimes guys I get so exhausted trying to explain these things over and over again, and often it feels lonely. This board helps but I have a proposition. Why don't we facebook friend each other and then whenever these little discussions get started we can support each other. Feel free to add me. You can see my name and face up there.

Latest from Jimmy:

Any one with a computer and a domain name can make and publish a graph, it doesn't even cite the demographics polled. If I stood you in front of 4 Marines from Texas and one from Florida I could make a graph that said 80% of Marines were from Texas.

The government has a lot to do with American jobs. If it weren't for the government everything would be produces almost overseas where it's cheaper, and the boarders would be open to allow for cheaper labor for anything which needed to be done here.

The victory of public education.

I wouldn't waste anymore time with him. It doesn't seem he is capable of independent thought.

The best you could hope for is that he dies before he reproduces.
