Iowa’s Republican governor was one of the moderators for Tuesday’s Republican presidential candidate forum in Pella and during the 90-minute event Terry Branstad touted some of his own actions as governor and told one candidate they had proposed the “boldest” approach to fixing the federal budget.
“You can’t get low taxes unless you deal with the big problem, that’s big spending,” Ron Paul said during the forum.
Branstad told Paul: “I think you’ve got the boldest plan to reduce the federal deficit. I think most Americans are scared to death.”
Paul has proposed a plan to get rid of five federal agencies and trim a trillion dollars from the federal budget in one year.

I'm not too optimistic about an endorsement from Brandstad.. but it may be nice to be surprized..

Is he saying people are scared of the spending or they're scared of Ron's plan?

I'm pretty sure that Branstad will endorse RP. Probably sometime after RP wins the party nomination.

He'll probably write a letter of endorsement for every candidate, back date them to yesterday, seal them in envelopes and after that candidate wins the election, he'll break the letter out and be like "See! I endorsed you way back, give me a cabinet position!"

I read it as his saying they were scared to death of conditions and the lack of solutions from leaders and that (impliedly) Ron was addressing that in his plan. Branstadt may or may not endorse him for political reasons, but he gave Ron a lot of love up on stage. He was drinking in every word Ron said, it seemed.

Is there a tube of the forum? I missed it and didn't see it posted on their YouTube page yesterday

Yeah, this really is a good interview. I wonder if we've put it on the front page yet?

Ron's interview has 1300 views.
Perry and Newt have 250 each
Santorum has 150
Bachmann has 38

I've started a draft of a letter to our Governor requesting an endorsement. I will post it later fo feedback before I send it, hopefully early next week.

Good idea. Watch the videos of the other candidates and write what Ron's answers to the questions he posed the other candidates would be.

Watch it, he's nothing but positive to Dr. Paul.

Are you going to circulate it to IA supporters? Imagine going to the governor's mansion with a stack of 1,000 letters.

I'd love to see his staff having to open 1000 letters that arrive day after day after day. All telling him to endorse their candidate of choice: Ron Paul (obviously)

I know, watching the video shows his demeanor better than anything one can say here.

I wasn't planning to. I think individually-written letters will have a bigger impact. However, I could see a grassroots effort to encourage Iowans to do so being productive. No other candidate's supporters will have done that.

There should be a mail bomb! Enveryone needs to spend 30 minutes writing three letters: one to your governor, one to your state rep and one to your state senator.
