Clarifying the Race

There's a fairly intelligent analysis of the race for the GOP nomination by Ronald Brownstein. Basically, it explicates what many of us have been saying for months. If the tea party doesn't rally around one candidate, the GOP will nominate the chameleon, Zelig-like plastic man Romney. He will then lose to Obama as the Paulian wing of the tea party movement will stay home or vote third party.
Cain is the current tea flavor-of-the-month thanks to his willingness to continue a mindless neocon foreign policy. Endless war was never a tea party plank, you say? True, but politics is a messy thing. Many tea people have imported their prior issue agendas into a movement whose agenda was always clear and focused: shrink the federal government and end corporate bailouts! On that front, No Pain Cain clearly fails as he is unable to specify a single spending cut or program or agency or department he would cut. And he supported TARP!
When these tea party folks resolve their identity crisis, we will know who the next president will be.
