edit, I was mistaken, they didn't refuse 6000, they got 6000 and complied 93% of the time, not bad.

Complied with 93% of requests from the US.

Why the hell should they take down a video of policy brutality? Judging by your red bar, it's probably a waste of time replying to this.

Good job, Google, for the requests you refused. I wish you'd refused even more.

Tech people tend to be a little bit libertarian like that. The FBI is constantly emailing demands for info in fishing expeditions, but a lot of ISP network admins rightly hit the delete key, saying to themselves "go get a warrant".

The good intention was there. I've seen that same link and posted it here, and I think a couple other forum members have as well. The Cops are hiding behind the Laws that enable them to bully private companies into hiding the truth about their activities. Terrorists and Politicians both hide behind Children. And anyone with an official sounding title and some matching issued clothing believes they are the only ones that deserve the Right to Privacy.

Now, lets talk about that little Red Rep bub you got there and you might be able to convice some of us to send that the other direction...

We can give you +Reps if we feel that specific statements are awesome enough. I dont think it takes that much, just showing that you have common sense on whatever the topic at hand is about what the appropriate role of govt should be. Like being able to enforce laws, but more important than enforcing the laws is obeying the laws that restrict police, stuff like that. Nobody here will want you to say something that is not inline with what you truly think, that is, if you happen to have a communist mentality or socialist points of view (which arent necessarily bad), dont change it just for the sake of getting your Rep out of the Red. You've obviously said something that didnt necessarily offend someone personally, but probably was not at all inline with a potential better future for our country. I think the most memorable comment I ever came across was "Disobey the President, go to Jail" and that stuck in my mind and everyone ripped that person a new ass. It wasnt here on this forum, it was somewhere else, but it would be a statement like that would end up getting -Rep. At the same time, if you learn why the nature of the Federal Reserve Bank is absolutely destructive to our Country and its future, you'll be able to make statements like "The Fed prints money out of thin air" and be able to back it up. Basically, its just a lot of what you say that we really agree with that earns the most +Rep. But more importantly, we want for people to be able to back up their statements, and cite reasons that printing up money devalues the rest of the currency, we want for people to "wake up", to be aware of the real source of the problems that we face, and once we know what those problems are, then we can start working on long term permanent solutions to those problems that benefit everyone, not just an elite few.

Really, Rep is just an online thing, but we know that what is happening across the entire planet is so dangerous to all of us that we do our damnedest every single day to get as many people to understand what those problems are in real life. When we say "Dont Call The Cops", it isnt just because we enjoy complaining about the extremely abusive and potentially lethal behavior of police online, it is because this shit affects everyone in real life. You call 911 for help and end up being shot by a jackass cop, it affects you in real life. Giving up Liberty in exchange for Security is another example of what we call "Dangerous Thinking", because it shows that an individual has no desire to take any responsibility for their own Security or Liberty, and have learned from history that one can not exist without the other. And as more of our Liberties are eroded into the nothingness, the LESS Security we actually have. Who watches the watchmen? Who is going to protect us from those that are supposed to protect us? The truth is that we are responsible for our own futures. And That is the reality of the world that we are trying to wake people up to.

Conza88's backslapper contingent gave him the red reps for not agreeing with their line of BS and asking VERY pertinent questions, leaving them flummoxed and foaming at the mouth. Amusing to watch. I will bet ClayTrainor neg repped him a bunch. He does that wen he cannot debate effectively. Mind you, I like Clay in his other threads. He is seemingly well read and thoughtful. This ancap/anarchy is where he and many others diverge.

Google is in between a rock and a hard place. The government essentially forces them to do certain things, otherwise they will come after them with all sorts of regulations and maybe even hit them with anti-trust laws. Oh, and the CIA/NSA gives them grants to fund some of their projects too for research. So the government is like the mafia, they buy Google off, but they also threaten to kneecap them if they don't do what they want them to do.

Right. Their servers are located in the US. What are they going to do? They're stuck. Make any given bureaucrat too mad, he'll just get a court order, come in and seize the server bank, close it down, he won't care if Google goes offline, not his concern and he may not understand all the "technical mumbo-jumbo stuff" anyway. It's a horribly precarious situation when there's tens of thousands of arrogant men you're totally at the mercy of, any one of which could pull your plug if you refuse to play their game.

If you want to do something controversial, you need to put your servers as far away from the reach of the U.S.A government as possible. Malaysia or New Zealand are good.
