What affects will this writers strike have? Will it shut down Leno type shows? Why would the "unscripted" like The View be a problem?

What we need now is Leno and the late night talk shows to run with this November 5th money bomb. Make some jokes Leno at the expense of the other candidates.

So what effects will it have?

It has shut down Leno and all other entertainment shows. I read today that Leno is supporting the strikers, and Jon Stewart is going to pay the salaries of his and Colbert's staffs for the first two weeks of the strike.

The plus is if the strike goes on long enough we will get the Ron Paul segment ion Leno repeated :)

it means that Stewart and Colbert won't give us a ton of free exposure

How about L.A. area RP supporters providing aid-and-comfort to the striking writers by taking by coffee, donuts, and walking the picket lines (sans-RP signs -- that would be tacky -- shirts would be okay, though) with them?

Jay Leno already DID that this morning - brought Krispy Kremes to the striking writers at NBC...in other words, his staff.

Talk shows are shut down this week. Series have enough work to last until the end of December, supposedly.
