WTF is up with all the Pepper Spray Lately???? [Archive]

I haven't even kept up with all the articles but WHAT THE HELL??? Is it just me or does it seem like pepper spray is being used constantly.

From the OWS to this football game to several more incidents I've heard about in the last month or so.

This story is really pissing me off.

So some visiting team fans at a HS football game try to honor or show a little enthusiasm toward their winless football team by doing some Haka Polynesian dance (which is apparently somewhat popular, the Rugby 2011 World Cup champs did it before every game) but they were BLOCKING the exit so the cops step in and demand they clear the way. Unfortunately for the visiting team fans, they continue their dance/chant and are pepper sprayed to make them disperse.

And apparently the cops were the only ones getting pissed the exit was temporarily occupied.

Had the cops waited a moment for the visitors to finish their dance, what would have happened? ummm...NOTHING.

What happened to violence being a last resort after other options had been exhausted? How were other people in imminent danger by a temporary few fans temporarily doing a dance that required immediately violent response?

Didn't more fans get put in harms way as the result of a cloud of pepper spray hit other fans and even children???? There were CHILDREN in the crowd. WTF!!! Who pepper sprays into a crowd knowing that children are nearby! And who pepper sprays because a bunch of guys are doing a mock War chant dance????

And then the comments about people blaming the dancers or implying they deserved it..UGH...or the people saying, "Pepper spray is not a violent response by the officers..." I BET THAT COMMENTER HAS NEVER BEEN SPRAYED!!!! I haven't myself, but it sounds like living hell. I don't want to find out, but from the actual stuff I've read, it is an extremely painful experience, and for a person to shrug it off like "pepper sprayed...so what..." UGH so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!
