and his 12% is 4% points higher than Gingrich and twice that of Rick Perry, the next closest.

Ron is in good position as Cain implodes

Presented with a list of potential GOP contenders and asked whom they'd support if the caucuses were today, over a third of likely Republican caucus attendees (37 percent) said they would choose Cain, while just over a quarter (27 percent) said they would choose Romney. Ron Paul placed a distant third at 12 percent, with Rick Perry falling to 6 percent. Newt Gingrich received 8 percent, Michelle Bachmann received 4 percent, Rick Santorum received 3 percent, "someone else" received 2.5 percent, and Jon Huntsman received 1 percent.

What we need to do now is get Ron back to Iowa as MUCH as possible! Voters want to see the candidate. I am REALLY hoping for a couple of big bus tours.

not bad...

better to see Cain crushing than Romney.

Is this going to be on RCP?

Cain has to implode. And he is doing nicely at that. When the drifters leave his campaign and look around, if Ron keeps a gap between himself and the next contender, he will have an edge. Unfortunately, media is pumping Gingrich.

You mean global warming fear mongering, adulterer Gingrich? He can't take Iowa. You're right about Cain though.

Paul outpolled Perry and Bachmann combined in Iowa. It's pretty amazing considering each has had double digit leads in past polls.

Well put. For a while, people thought we would have trouble catching Bachmann and Perry in Iowa, now, we are miles ahead of them. We need to keep on campaigning in Iowa hard!

Cain needs to be attacked like Perry was. Hopefully he won't hold up and hopefully there is enough time before the caucus to attack him yet.

Money money money. Plus the only thing he ever gets attacked on is healthcare.

Polls are polls and I feel really good that in these RP is doing so well. This may be considered comparing apples and oranges, but remember the Schiff Senate Campaign where he was polling really low? Come the election he more then doubled his percentages in ballots cast (If I remember correctly).

Yes, but the people need to see a "Paul presence" in the state. This can be done with the media, advertisements, phone banking, and canvassing. Signs can be included in advertising but it doesn't have the same effect.

Dr. Paul's support is solid despite fluctuating polls. Of course the only polls that matter are on Jan. 3, 2012. It does not matter what he is polling at now. We need to see a rise in his numbers in mid to late December, if that happens it will bode well for a Paul victory. There are three debates in Iowa in mid December. There was another thread about them elsewhere. Many more Iowans will be politically active then. Good debates in December will pick up support.(for Iowa that is)

Do you know if there are consistent grassroots meetings around Iowa? I'm looking at the Ames meetup and it seems dead. Their past meetups only had 4-5 people attend. In reading how the supporters won Johnson County in 08, they mentioned that consistent meetings (weekly or monthly) was to key to keep people energized and motivated. Do you have a sense of how energized the grassroots is right now?

Nope everyone just keeps saying the polls are lying or that Cain's surge isn't real or that he is imploding. Clearly not. His numbers keep going up. he's leading in virtually every state poll.

Back when Perry had just announced and his campaign looked just as great as Cain's does now, I said "I guarantee that Perry will not be the nominee." and I had people saying exactly what you are. Look what happened to Perry. Cain is being vetted right now, and he is not going to last. Cain will not be the nominee.

Between Cain's faulty 999 plan and abortion comments, how in the name of high holy fuck is he polling this high in IOWA? Or anywhere, I guess?

But after Ron's grand economic plan.

Time is running out so it's really dangerous for us.

Ron's economic plan didn't get any real coverage until the 17th-19th. This poll was conducted between the 12th - 19th.

Cain has revised his 999 plan, it is now 909...they had it all over Cnn today...soon he'll be on par with Ron's 0-0-0 plan.

We need more grassroots volanteers in iowa. The best way to convince some of these people is to speak to them face to face.
