This is the argument that was handed to me when I brought up some of the nasty ingredients in Flu shots...

The argument went something along the lines of...

"I have Kaiser, Kaiser makes the most money when I am not sick, I pay XXX dollars per month regardless if I get sick or not, if choose not to get the flu shot & I got the flu & had to be treated then I would not be giving Kaiser any more money but Kaiser would be spending a ton more money on my treatment; yet Kaiser offers these shots for free & puts a decent amount of effort into advertising them to their members"

It seems semi-logical but I can't get over some of the seriously nasty stuff in those shots...

Horrible misunderstanding of the flu vaccine and immunity.

You don't believe that article do you?

"The Flu" is kind of like "A Cold" only worse. It's not a single virus. There are thousands of influenza strains all around planet earth. If you develop immunity to one of them, you don't develop immunity to all of them. Some of them might be related enough that you get partial immunity. Add that to the fact that the various strains are constantly undergoing evolutionary changes.

The flu vaccines are based on guess work. CDC attempts to predict the next big strain of influenza that's going to hit the U.S. that year, and then the vaccines get made. It doesn't always match up, but the statistics show quite convincingly that the flu vaccines DO work, DO save lives (mostly in cases of the elderly) and reduce disease occurance.
