View Full Version : If we were to give Ron a 'Super Hero' brand, what would it be?

This came up yesterday. I thought it might be a fun exercise.

For example: Superman's costume is boots and a cape and the familiar phrase is: Faster than a speeding bullet....it's a bird.....it's a plane....it's SUPERMAN!

I thought of this:

His costume would be the attire of the founding era,

and his phrase could be: "For Life....Liberty.....and the pursuit of Happiness!"

Someone needs to make an awesome cartoon poster of RP as Superman. I'd buy it!

Honestly, I think the meme diminishes him and opens him to ridicule. That is just how it is spun. I can't count how many of the images designed in admiration of Ron as a superhero or Jedi or whatever turn up on conservative blogs in a negative way.

The brief clip in the video All I do is Win was good though, but not the primary image of him, and tongue in cheek.

That's par for the course though. Young supporters love this kind of thing. I don't think it diminishes him at all.

Just show him ensnared in Wonderwoman's Lasso of Truth.

I would imagine Ron Paul's superhero outfit would look something like this hero's ("Minuteman"):

From the article:

As part of the run-up to the presidential primaries next year, ComicMix asked Texas Congressman Ron Paul who his favorite comic book super-hero might be. We think this is at least as revealing as their favorite movies, favorite books, or favorite chocolate-chip cookie recipes.

Candidate Paul, running for the Republican nomination on a Libertarian platform, was happy to respond. From Congressman Paul:

"My favorite comic book superhero is Baruch Wane, otherwise known as Batman, in The Batman Chronicles. "The Berlin Batman," #11 in the series by Paul Pope, details Batman’s attempts to rescue the confiscated works of persecuted Austrian economist, Ludwig von Mises, from Nazi Party hands.

“Batman’s assistant Robin writes in the memoirs, "[Mises] was an advocate of individual liberty, free speech, and free thinking… and so, should I add, the Berlin Batman." Batman, a Jew in hiding in Nazi Austria, was willing to risk his life for the sake of the promulgation of freedom, and I find this to be super-heroic."

Funny this should come up as I started this character two days ago. I am in the final stage of weighting the mesh to the bone armature so I can animate and pose him and keep the muscle topography intact. He is "The Patriot Axe". He is going to partner with "Liberty Grrrl" and I was gonna do a bunch of short one page panel strips and comic book cover style posters using them versus the megavillains..kinda like early 60's Jack Kirby/ Stan Lee. Stuff like "The Patriot Axe cuts into the Behemoth Budget in this issue!!" or "Can Liberty Grrrl and The Patriot Axe defeat the Archvillain Alien 'The Briefcase' Greensperm!". I am building the weapons system next. A steampunk musket, an ornate saber and two flintlock pitsols with silver bullets. And of course the requisite strappage and holsterings rife on todays warrior in various games etc.

I was always partial to the Obi-Ron pictures.

Also, Magneto. (yeah he's a villain, but damn do they look alike.)

Batman is the best superhero afterall.
Never killed a bad guy. Converted most of them to being good guys.
Philanthropist.
Parents were killed, but instead of complaining about the unfairness of the world he set out to change it.
He worked independently, but never hampered efforts of the police.
He was a dark guy, but a good guy.

Well according to the tropes Dr. America (aka Ronald Ernest Paul) would be classified as a badass normal.

from http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BadassNormal

Badass Normal
He doesn't need powers! He's the goddamn Batman!

"There's nothing mere about that mortal."
— The Joker on Batman, Batman/Superman: World's Finest

In a World with supernatural dealings or superpowers, this character is the one who is able to keep being useful through intellect, martial arts abilities, general ruthlessness, or just being Crazy Prepared.

They notably have none of the fantastic enhancements, magic or special powers that others do. It might even be a sore point for them, but that just makes us encourage them more. Female versions are usually Action Girls with a Girl Posse or Lovely Angels.

It's become increasingly common for the Badass Normal to be a protagonist, in contrast to the ideal lead, as it supposedly makes him easier to relate to. However, in ensembles, they are usually the leader, or at least the brains of the outfit, to compensate.
