I criticized the naysayers of the 5th on Ron Paul Radio, and predicted that a million would be raised. I am eating my words for making such a low prediction.......and I was being positive LOL

Most all of the major outlets so far are portraying this as a grassroots effort entirely independent of the official campaign with a popular, youthful enthusiasm.

They mention Guy Fawkes as a historical novelty, they mention the tie in with the movie hero in V for Vendetta, and they mention the organizer's very positive description of the intended symbolism.

The original Guy Fawkes stands up to scrutiny as a Catholic freedom fighter, very much a product of his time, but not so different from our own revolutionary heroes more than a century later. And certainly the popular hero in V for Vendetta is symbolism the media can very well understand.

I think it is pretty ridiculous, considering the amount of money we have raised and the very positive mainstream reactions so far, that anyone should be suggesting this will have a net, negative effect.

And the good news is that we have the December 16th Boston Tea Party event to bring on board a much broader audience with a similar grassroots effort.

Well rarely do we have the opportunity to use hind sight for anything useful. Whatever they say you cant beat that Ron Paul has been 100% correct of every issue facing this country today.

You cant touch that, period. He has been saying it for 30 years. The monetary policy, the war in Iraq, SSI, Health care its all coming true.

They speculate with little to no insight, Ron Paul makes informed decisions around the constitution and he has won every time.

I'm very very very (!) happy about the money raised today! I just hope, as some others have mentioned, that this story doesn't get bogged down in a Guy Fawkes morass. But it's been a hell of a day. Congratulations to everyone who donated - as much as it pains this anti-collectivist to say it, this is something bigger than any of us.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but even if this raises 10m, I consider it to be bad news.

Either bad news for us:

The money's great, but doing it on any other day would be just as great, but without Wolf Blitzer having to ask people if it's meant to promote violence. (that he actually brought up the possibility on air is frigg'n insanely bad)

Or bad news about us:

That is, to say couldn't have done it on another day because we're sheeple and we needed the childish-anti-power-even-if-it-invokes-violent-connotations Nov 5th reference to make it happen. :-(
