What is this nonsense? How did we miss this? Its all over the place about Cain and his landslide. We can't afford to let anyone win any straw poll ever apparently.

Surging Republican presidential contender Herman Cain has picked up another morale booster in the race for the GOP nomination.

The conservative businessman decisively won a tea party straw poll held in Columbia, South Carolina, Saturday afternoon.

Cain captured an eye-popping 55% of the vote. His closest challenger, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, picked up 14.5%. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann garnered 8% to come in third.

The two candidates with the most money in their campaign bank accounts, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, nearly finished at the back of the pack with 3% and 2% respectively. Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman was last with 1%.

I can't find how many votes RP got on any of the thousands of articles about this.

I also can't find this poll here. If there is a thread and I am blind plz let me know.

Cain took 55% of the vote, which was held exclusively of 200 tea party voters in Columbia, SC.

MSM is really stretching to call this a "big" win. Let's hold a straw poll of a 200 member Ron Paul meetup and see who wins... This is ridiculous.

Its headlines everywhere. This needs vids. and screenshots and articles. Big ammo for BTO.

Probably wasn't promoted at all. Wouldn't be surprised if this is their way of avoiding constant wins for RP and now they have Cain headlines on demand.

This is actually good. Let the media make a big deal about straw polls, the more they do, the better. Ron will do well in many straw polls and if they want to pretend this straw poll is meaningful then bigger ones are even more meaningful.

If that's a "big win" this was too!

I wouldn't worry about this one. I just did a google news search for Herman Cain and this is nowhere to be found. I don't think the big media outlets are running it.

Do you have to be an Ohio resident for the ohio poll?

I think you meant to say "Who the hell cares about this 200 vote poll?" Nobody knew about it because 200 votes is irrelevant, and the only people who care are the media manipulators. Ron Paul didn't get even a single story on a few of his straw poll wins. The title of the thread is misleading. Cain wins SMALL in South Carolina. And nobody cares.

I read in a comment to one of those articles that Ron wasn't even on the ballot, don't know if it was true,

Let's make our own poll that's embeddable onto our facebooks, blogsites, and websites in the same format as the BTO banner. Why not? Would it have to show the origin?

Anyone know how the missing 16.5% was split? I assume Ron Paul got a big chunk, but Gary Johnson and Rick Santorum are also missing. CNN must have been too busy fact checking another SNL sketch to finish the article.

Hold up - for the Swing State Straw Poll, I have an email from the Executive Director of the Franklin County Republican Party (organizers) saying you do have to be an Ohio resident.

Also, word on the street is that the Franklin County GOP holding the poll is looking to support Romney. AFAIK there are about 20 RP supporters going. We need a hell of a lot more people to sign up.
