View Full Version : Who's to blame, the criminal elite or the willfully ignorant?

Sorry to rant, but today's huge success for our revolution has brought about a lot of anger in me. Anger towards my family, anger towards some co-workers and anger towards the otherwise willfully ignorant in this country.

First let me say that I have almost zero problem with pure ignorance. In it's purest form, ignorance equals innocence. In fact, before a couple of years ago, I was rather ignorant myself when it came to the criminally elite.

My anger is directed at the willfully ignorant in this country. You can't completely blame the crooks because, well, they are criminals. However, those that choose to look the other way even AFTER being presented with cold, hard facts are the ones that I despise.

The reason my anger has peaked today is partly based on the fact that my family is willfully ignorant. I've tried working on them for months, to no evail. It's like they are living in a different time warp or something. It's down right freaky the way they just don't get it.

I told my Dad a few days ago about the November 5th website over the phone. He went to the site as I had requested. Just as every other time I've tried to show them small blips of this revolution, the reaction was filled with defensive boredom.

After this historic record, I wanted to email my Dad and basically say in a round about way, "are your eyes fucking open yet"? I've since calmed down a little and decided to vent here with you patriots.

I just feel more and more that the criminally elite and the MSM are not who we should be blaming. Rather, we should be blaming the willfully ignorant population. I guess I'm taking this a little to personal because my own family is part of the problem.

i feel your pain man... my dad still thinks Bush is doing a good job... and has no idea why he thinks that... he still thinks they hate freedom, and they must be stopped because they are crazy muslim fanatics.

His ignorance is untouchable, and i've argued with him many times,a nd have told him about ron paul, and how he actually wants what is best for us.

he doesnt care... he just thinks we need to wipe out the middle east, and the worlds problems are solved.

I distance myself from him now, i cant stand the ignorance... he is my father and i love him, but he is exactly what's wrong with society, and i do not want to associate with him much with views like that.

we just need to focus on getting the message out to as many people as possible... some people cant be woken up, but most can.

It took months but I got my mom to open her eyes.

My sister (21, im 24) could care less if martial law was declared tomorrow as long as she can still go out, get drunk, and have all the guys follow her around like dogs.

My suggestion is that you should try and contol your emotions... be happy. You have to be positive... no matter what you can't control. (Obvious things aside)

Don't get discouraged and don't beat your head against a wall of illogic.

I have found 3 categories of people:

1. Those you will never convince and will never vote for RP. Socialists, idiots, populists, etc. Forget about these.

2. Those that can be convinced with a logical argument that addresses their issues. They are the best, because many will actually get active or at least talk to others.

3. Those with terminal apathy. I don't mind these people and really just say to them "look, you aren't jazzed about any of the candidates, so do ME a favor and vote for my guy in the primary - if he doesn't win, vote for whoever (insert favorite talking head here) tells you to in the general election"

Enough of these people will make the difference between winning and losing!

Stop trying to convert them to liberty )they can't handle it) and just turn out some votes for RP. Someone has to tell them who to vote for - might as well be us.

For the "oh you can't believe what you read on the internet" people and I have more than my share.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I try to stay positive. In fact, nothing makes me happier than introducing fellow patriots to Ron Paul. You know the ones that after you talk to them for a few seconds their eyes start to glow and they thank you for the info.

I'll just have to realize that some people aren't going to learn, even my own family. I just have to take that frustration energy and expend it trying to bring in new supporters.

Its like they say........... Ignorance is bliss.

Most people would rather be willingly ignorant than to take the time to learn how badly they are getting screwed by their government. They have mortgages to pay, jobs to worry about, deadlines, appointments, bitching about 4 dollar a gallon gas with their friends, football, american idol. They dont want to be bothered with all that "truth" thats out there. That would make them realize they are basically just like hairless pig fetuses floating inside a plexiglass bubble in the matrix, waiting to be used as fuel for the big govt machine. Nobody likes to face up to that.

Dont worry, youre not alone in your frustration.

An ignorant society = an enslaved society. America is waking up from the poppy fields, slowly. But yeah, its extremely frustrating. Once I knew that habeous corpus was gone, my whole world view changed. There was no grey area for me. I just can't see how anyone cannot understand how corrupt everything becomes, and a how a society crumbles, without basic human rights, and the rule of law being enforced.

Today I feel like I have a split personality or that I live in 2 different worlds. I have managed to convert quite a few people in my personal life. But then there are those who are just....dumb. Many people know they are dumb on some level and are fine with it. Many people are convinced they are right, although they are blind...and I think the worst are the ones who have gotten all my feverishly pro-RP emails that I subject them to on my little Friends Listserve, and who are STILL not getting it.

As a matter of fact, I got into it today via email with a longtime friend who I go to school with AND her husband. First, he emailed me to suggest that I quit med school and become a government watchdog. I flipped out. I mean, how dare he? Just bc I have interests outside medicine, I should QUIT SCHOOL? What a tool. Oh, and what is a government watchdog, exactly? OH HE MUST MEAN A CITIZEN. So I shared with him the concept that we must ALL be government watchdogs. That we must all stand up for what we believe in, or one day we will realize we didn't really believe in those things after all. I told him that the media is not doing its job of being gov watchdogs, so we must take up the challenge. He wrote back in all caps and asked to be unsubscribed from my email list, to which I replied: No problem! You will no longer be annoyed by emails from a passionate person. But at least you once knew a passionate person who put their money where their mouth is.

Then I got into it with my friend. She was saying that she thinks RP is nice and honest, etc, and she WOULD vote for him IF she could be ASSURED that he would not OUTLAW abortion. So I had to tell her to take a hike, too. But not before giving myself carpal tunnel writing a book to her and 'splaining to her that the Prez does not make laws. The Congress makes laws. RP won't OUTLAW anything. Then she said that I was twisting her words to make it fit my agenda that anyone who does not agree with me is a lamb to the MSM slaughter. Except she wrote MSM out and put it in quotation marks. And then she said I should get back to the books and stop trying to "enlighten" people. And she put that in quotation marks too.

So they can both stuff it. I don't mean to be rude and I have known this girl for ages, but if they cannot get with the Control Your Own Life program, I am done with them. I am no longer interested in talking about BS, so that kind of limits my conversation topics and people I can hang out with.

On the VERY lucky side, EVERY SINGLE MEMBER of my immediate family, and my aunt and uncle, and some very close friends of mine, agree with RP and donate. And there is nothing better than that.....Even if it does lead to thinking hanging out with my folks on a Friday night and talking about RP, the CFR and sticking it to the man is, like, way funner than going out with drips at my school and getting wasted. It is a little easier here bc RP is my Rep and my though parents don't live in my district they live very close by, RP has been huge down here for years. So my parents already knew who he was. As my dad says, he's been a voice in the wilderness for years and years.....

Ok that's my rant. Hope you enjoyed. You are not alone.

Im going to call him tomorrow and ask what he thinks of the 4+ mill we just dropped in the MSM's face lol

Thanks for all of the comments. Here's the thing. I've tried bringing up all kinds of "never-before-happened-events" to my family regarding the past few months of the RP Revolution and all I get is defensive boredom.

That's why I held back from emailing some of the news articles from today because I would get the same responses: "it doesn't matter, he can't win" or "that' nice, how's your job going?" or "that's a lot of money for a Republican to raise".

I'm paraphrasing of course. You see, it wouldn't matter if we raised 1 BILLION today, I would still receive similar reactions. It just disgusts me.

Some people are just sheep. They are incapable of original thought and making leaps of logic. Unless they are 100% certain that they are with group think, they will not budge. I know people like this.
