An American and an Israeli soldier have been kidnapped for few years now but it is very interesting how US administration, Congress and media have handled the two cases.

There is news out that Obama's man Panetta was in Egypt few days ago and helped broker release of Israeli kidnapped soldier, he is expected to be realesed this Tue in a prisoner swap deal.

If US had some influence to exercise over arabs for getting Shalit to his family, nothing wrong with that. But question arises why similar level of high profile push at same scale has not been made for release of American kidnapped soldier ?

Why US Comgrsss has not passed a resolution calling for immediate release of US soldier?

Why Congress has not floated a proposal to cut Afghan/Pak aid unless US soldier is released?

Why there has been no bike rallies to bring attention to captivity of the American soldier in American capitol Washingtom DC?

I would really like to know if someone can offer any reasonable explanation for this seemingly strange conduct by US Congress, media and President giving a higher profile attention to release of a foreign country's soldier than that of its own soldier's?

America: Do You Know Bowe Bergdahl?

COMMENTARY | Bowe Bergdahl is probably a name most Americans do not know. But they should.

The 25-year-old U.S. Army sergeant is the only American prisoner of war being held in Afghanistan. Bergdahl was captured on June 30, 2009, outside an American base in southern Afghanistan. His Taliban captors have released two videos showing the young soldier in relatively good condition, but their demands for his release have been unclear.
