I think his father was one of the more liberal, anti war Iraniaan jewish immigrants if I'm not mistaken. I used to think Penn was a cool dude after seeing his opposition to torture and racial revenge attacks like Iraq war, this is disappointing if he is defending Obama now. He's starting to sound almost like Obama's other first lady in his views on Tea Party.

Penn's claims are also not grounded in facts as far as I know, I don't recall any Tea Party leader even coming close to what he is accusing TP of. Romney was accused by some libs of making irresopinsible "hang Obama" statement but that was metaphorical statement and Romney is not Tea Party in any case.

Leo Penn was a member of the ACP, so when you see how seriously fucked up his son is, it's easy to understand why. I don't think Penn is a bad guy but his worldview is scary.

I may not agree with a lot of what Sean Penn says and believes, but one thing is for sure, to me, he is compassionate about humans-beings. He has done humanitarian things with his own funds. That is a lot more than most politicians and celebrities have done, IMHO.

Oh and by the way, Sean Penn is good friends with Vince Vaugh since Penn wrote and directed, "Into the Wild." Maybe Vince will be able to tell Sean all about why he endorses Ron Paul for the 2012 election.

His compassionate views expressed in these clips are better than those of neocons and pro war republicans/democrats but he should make distinction in his criticisms between pro liberty wing of Tea Party that opposes racism VS pro torture, pro occupation wing of Tea Party aka tea o cons that supports police state, gropings of civilians, revenge wars based on lies and racial motivations.

Well, it is hard to make those distinctions since the Tea Party has been hijacked by the likes of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Herman Cain and Rick Perry. That is what is being supported and promoted nationally, which is one of the reasons I disassociated myself with them.

I also think, just like right winged radio broadcasters were accused (back in the 90's) of provoking a Timothy McVeigh into doing a Oklahoma City, something may happen where the Tea Party will be accused of setting off something domestically, and give Obama the ratings he needs for another round in the White house. I could be wrong but we know many pundits on the left said Obama needs another disaster like Oklahoma to regain the White House in 2012. The radicalized Tea Party is ripe for the picking, IMHO.
