This one is a little different in that there really did seem to be an aggressive dog on the scene.
My question?
Who called the cops, for a situation that never required an arrest?

Police said they shot and killed a family's German shepherd outside their Belmont home Thursday night after the dog ran toward an officer and bit him.
The single shot was fired after police were called to a home in the 2300 block of Coronet Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. on neighbors' reports of glass breaking and a man yelling. When officers arrived, they heard the disturbance and detained a 30-year-old man who lives there with his mother and father.
As two officers talked to the man, 6-year-old Magnum ran out of the house and toward a third officer, said Belmont police Lt. Pat Halleran. That officer, who was not identified, managed to fend the dog off once. But when Magnum attacked again -- this time biting the officer's leg -- he fired one shot into the dog, which later died at an animal hospital.
"It's not a pleasant situation for the officers included," said Halleran. "But it's just something we had to deal with."
One of the dogs owner's declined to comment when she was reached by telephone Friday afternoon. "It was just unfortunate," said Carole Heapes. "We're just grieving now."
The injured officer was taken to San Mateo Medical Center for treatment and later released. The dog also bit the man's mother, but she declined medical care.
Halleran said officers managed to calm down the son, and he was not arrested.
