Media uses the term libertarian as a way to hammer in the idea that he is unelectable among Republican voters, often referring to him as the "libertarian congressman" rather than the Republican congressman and other sorts of gimmicks. See below..

yep, that was the first thing I noticed that the media would say/do when I started following Ron back in 2007...the words "long-shot" quickly followed...and then the implications of "unelectable" just running a campaign to "shape the debate"...or "get his message out." Basically given the impression that he is not a serious candidate...it's amazing some people are still parroting that line still..particularly since he said he wasnt running for Congress. I couldn't imagine what the state of affairs would be if Ron never ran in 07?

What's amazing is that line still works with mainstream media watching idiots.

And yet Ron Paul IS a libertarian. Or are you not trying to deny that fact? And just making the point that the media are using it in an attempt to marginalize him?

So what? It's standard fare. He's not part of the false left / right paradigm. Use it as an advantage, if you only want to associate him with the letter (R), you're losing 2/3rds of his support from elsewhere.

He's a unique man in the race. Get independants and democrats to register for their republican primairy, they're called Blue Republicans [because neo-cons aren't the only ones who can vote]. That's something you can do... you can't control what they call you, so how about we stop shedding tears over it?

Its not an advantage for the Republican primary and is indeed a code word for "unlectable" amongst most Republican voters. Its not shedding tears, its illustrating an institutional bias in the media.

You don't have the media going around with every reference to Rick Perry as "former Democrat" or Cain as "former Fed official".
