Ok, looks like the Q3 numbers are starting to roll in over at the FEC http://query.nictusa.com/pres/2011/Q3/
That means its time to total the military donations from each candidate.Any donor who has named their employer as one
of the branches of the military ( Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard) or as a retried military veteran will be counted.
The Donations listed under the employer section of the FEC site are only those who have donated over $200 total during the 3rd quarter

Thanks for doing this - would be GREAT to get your documented research to the campaign and/or a news-source that will put together an article.
Or perhaps post on a blog that could go viral???

I honestly feel like we need to go through each candidate line by line by employer to make sure we don't miss anything. I can volunteer to go through one candidate, someone else can go through another, etc.

Might be easier just to make a program to do it. That way you can do more candidates with minimal errors.

Just remember to keep your each itemized line so people can verify and also cross reference for more ideas about how people list their military employment.

Don't worry it will be picked up by all the right people :D

Please feel free to go over any and all candidates, post your findings here so we can double check with others numbers

I didn't even know who Ron was when I was in Baghdad... Wasn't a voter, didn't care... Thought they were all the same... As a shock to my system, I listened to Ron videos for hours, and couldn't find anything wrong with his message... So I registered and donated... And still do when I can...

So using these numbers from Obama

Obama

Active duty 190.00
air force 500.00
army 790.00
army gulf war veteran 485.00
army officer 4,750.00
army physician 299.00
disabled veteran 1,350.00
infantry company commander 500.00
infantryman 1,392.00
marine 265.00
military 1,128.00
military officer 650.00
naval captain 100.00
naval officer 500.00
retired army 650.00
retired army officer 440.00
retired usaf officer 1,500.00
retired veteran 200.00
school administrator and retired milit 225.00
soldier 1,310.00
soldier - lieutenant colonel 400.00
u s navy (ret) 45.00
us army (retired) 450.00
us army retired 50.00
us military/usepa 250.00
usaf and city of shreveport 200.00
usn retired 200.00
veteran 825.00

I've split it up into retired vet and active duty. Active duty comes out to $13,224 while retired vet is $6,420. So that means Obama's only raised about 13k among active duty military members.

Although I have a question about one that I found in the FEC report:

HENRY COUNTY SCHOOLS/US ARMY RESERVES 110.00

Would we consider Army Reserves active duty??

Seeing as how reserves can be called up at anytime, i'd say yes.

I've also discovered that Obama's list is incomplete... Just searching for 'Army' I've found at least 10k in additional donations that aren't included there. It's gonna take a lot of work to comb through it completely.

EDIT: Or we just say screw it and focus on the other GOP contenders for the sake of time and getting this ad out as quick as possible.

I posted in your thread, seems the SEC is still updating the numbers, add some and removing others.

Ill start over tomorrow.
