From Michael Falcone and Amy Bingham:

Values voters love Ron Paul.

The Texas congressman and presidential candidate who remains in the single digits in most national polls emerged as the choice of 37 percent of those who cast ballots at the annual Values Voter Summit in Washington, DC.

Former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain, who has been surging in national presidential primary polls, came in second with 23 percent of the vote, followed by Rick Santorum who garnered 16 percent. Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann tied for fourth — both with 8 percent.
Current GOP front-runner Mitt Romney wound up near the bottom of the pack with 4 percent.
Here are the results of the straw poll: [click link]

The winner gets three sentences, less than a grammatically correct paragraph, yet Perry who came in fourth consists of half the article.

And yet it is the best article I've found....

Instead of talking about Paul's win, the article seems to be focused on Cain and Perry.

What?

Instead of talking about Paul's win, the article seems to be focused on Cain and Perry.

That would be because Straw Polls are more about thinning the field at this point, than picking a GOP winner.

Based on this, one would expect Bachmann and Santorum to be rethinking their entire strategy. Perry has the money to stick around making a fool of himself and possibly running interference. Ron won, and he will maintain his presence, and likely get a fundraising boost. Romney struggled here, but is polling high nationally, and the configuration of a lot of early states might help him if Perry ever drops out. Cain did well here, and has established that he'd make a great sidekick.

Values Voters Love Ron Paul

Although no one takes him seriously because our pollsters tell them not to, a small gathering of cooked religious kooks voted for the Texass member of the mere House.

Former Godfather Herman Cain came in second.

The middle of the pack came in in the middle of the pack.

The one you should be paying attention to, Former Governor Mitt Romney, came in about last, proving just what a bizarre group this was.

You don't even want to hear what any of them said.

mitt won his own island, mackinac by 50% and he once lived there.
if you go up to the northern cranberry corner of ohio you almost can
get to michigan. reguard mitt as being one state over almost. go to
the ohio river and you see that geoff davis's district in kentucky is
close by. i think the bridge obama refered to is in geoff davis's district
in part. if we could pull up our kentucky people into columbus, ohio we
might see mitt's mackinac brigade staring at us. lets capture the mojo
from the VALUE VOTER SUMMIT SWEEP and keep mitt only top 3 or 4.

Ron's speech was fantastic...my friend said that this was the speech he should have given two years ago...it is what it is...a valiant effort and I applaud Ron for finally showing us that, if he wanted to, he can simply decimate the competition. What he said, was the straight up truth. PERIOD. I have finally come to peace with my expectations regardless Ron...we all know that he could be the best President this country has seen in decades...yet our country and the political system has become so corrupted that even the most authentic and well meaning individual running for office is marginalized by virtually everyone...Ron was right, that this must be a revolution and despite the "love" being in the word, the word "revolt" is as well...

Two comments stood out for me:

must be sooo difficult for the Winston Smiths to have to somehow write out the man from the 13th Floor’s name….and to word the Headlines so as not to promote the Congressman, Doctor, Author, Businessman and that dreaded Christian thing.

MSM and GOPers dismissing active support of a candidate….those duped and stoned Bobby Kennedy supporters..those duped and misguided Reagan youth…now this. They mock and dismiss a major part of politics….the haughty arrogance of the MSM and GOPers is nearing levels unreached since 1963-64….

IF Money is the key to visible and active candidate support…THEN WHERE???? are all the flown in Romney supporters….the buses of Perry supporters….the vans of Cain supporters???

THEY HAVE THE MONEY……but not the proactive and energetic TRUE BELIEVERS and VOLUNTEERS…..and they have “supporter envy” as thier inconsistant and bought candidates have anemic and tepid and PURELY emotional NON thinking supporters…in few and dismal amounts.

Ron Paul and his hundreds of thousands of ACTIVIST SUPPORTERS AND VOTERS! want to take an ax to the ROOT of the Tree of State Hegemony…..whilst the other candidates and a lot of the Party regulars want to proudly and patriotically HACK AWAY at the branches….after the football game or the LSAT tests.

Alot of us have been fighting for Dr Pauls message of freedom and liberty for nearly 30 years…..forging ahead…educating our friends and coworkers and children…now the younger generation is going out and doing the work on the street, the keyboard and the polling booth.

This is a crossroads in America…either America can keep hurtling down the Statist road to debt chaos and war and a Hi Tech Security State Empire…..or stand up and say NO and turn the wheel….and go down the road of peace and liberty and soveriegnty and private property and an America and and American government we can be proud of.

We have the choice now!

Read up and vote for Congressman Ron Paul.
