The whole thing just sounds wrong. They guy had been in FBI custody several times after 9/11 for questioning. He was released because there was no evidence of a crime. He lived in Falls Church, VA; which is practically Mainstreet, CIA. He moves back to Yemen after he gets sick of the Feds hassling him, and all the sudden he is on the assassination list. My guess: CIA asset who outlived his usefulness.

That wouldn't shock me to find out Al-Awlaki was a CIA asset too. Osama Bin Laden was a CIA asset. Al Qaeda was set up by the CIA.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least. Seems like everyone the Govt's has killed has been a former asset. But let's not go making assertions without hard evidence.

He also:

- Led a prayer vigil in the Capitol for Muslim congressional staffers
- Held an invited luncheon in the Pentagon
- Was used as an expert into the culture of Islam by the FBI, I believe

All after 9/11.

FOX News: Anwar al-Awlaki Was a Pentagon CIA Asset.

The Race to Replace Osama bin Laden as America's Most Wanted (http://thenewamerican.com/usnews/foreign-policy/7349-the-race-to-replace-osama-bin-laden-as-americas-most-wanted)

04 May 2011 -- As reported in The New American, al-Awlaki is an American-born imam of Yemeni descent who shares something other than Predator drone target status with (the late) Osama bin Laden. According to a Fox News report, as was the case with bin Laden in the '80s, Anwar al-Awlaki was trained by the CIA in anticipation for his starring role.

That Awlaki spews nonsense and preaches hate against the United States is indisputable. He is an an enemy to peace, but that does not make him an enemy of the state, and his status of being an American citizen should shield him from presidential death warrants, the kind that got a couple of bullets put in Osama bin Laden’s head.

Or just take it for what it really was. A pissed off cleric who was "pushing the boundaries of free speech" in denouncing U.S. foreign policy who Obama decided to murder.

Got some hard evidence for this?

Wikileaks anyone???

I want to see it, to show it, and to make a few people eat come crow made out of it. Because this would not surprise me one single bit.

Look, I think it's likely too, just like that guy from Peter Lance's Triple Cross. But so far I'm just seeing stuff that could be chalked up to government incompetence. Where's the hard evidence besides lunch at the Pentagon? That just makes him look smarter than our guys, but doesn't prove our guys are actually smarter than him.
