Mitt Romney, in an interview on Sean Hannity's radio show just now, weighed in on the name the hunting camp in Texas leased years ago by Rick Perry's family was said to be known by, "N$%$%$%$head," calling it "offensive."

“I’ve followed it from afar," Romney said. "I think it’s offensive. I think most people think it’s offensive.”

He declined to answer other questions, saying those were for Team Perry.

But Romney was casting an opinion on an issue that has driven the cable news and the blogosphere today, and one that Team Perry is strongly pushing back on as falsely and inaccurately reported. Romney's comments were very similar to those made by White House spokesman Jay Carney earlier in the day.

Romney also took aim at President Obama for saying the nation has gone "soft," saying, “The remarkable thing, in my opinion is that the president is now finding a new scapegoat.. Now he’s decided to blame the American people."

“One thing we’re not is soft in the head," he said. "And we’re smart enough to realize that we have a president who has had the most anti-business…anti jobs agenda that we have ever seen.”

He also said he'll be giving a foreign policy speech at the Citadel in South Carolina this week, a move that underscores that Perry is still developing his policy platforms.

That's probably why Perry's family effectively changed the camp name in the early-mid 80s soon after leasing it. While not nearly as evil, this is more absurd than smearing Ron for having a "racist" newsletter in the early 90s. Hell - with some of the fucked-up human beings in the GOP voter base cheering wrongful state execution, having sick people die, and the idea that the USG's former and current military imperialism having no impact on the decision terrorists made (and make) to kill Americans, I wouldn't be surprised if this bumped Perry up a point or two.

I swear Romney is like that kid in dodge ball that just stands in the corner and lets everyone else knock each other out. Then he can come in at the last minute and suprise the real winner and hit him in the back.
