When you peel off the campaign trail for four weeks in the heat of the fight, it raises questions about just what the heck a candidate is doing in the race anyway. As Decoder previously wrote, all candidates not named Rick Perry or Mitt Romney have another goal in running for president to keep them going in the face of their slim poll numbers. For Ron Paul, it’s moving the national conversation toward his libertarian themes. For Jon Huntsman, it’s setting up a potential bid in 2016. For Michele Bachmann, it’s enshrining herself as a leading light of the GOP’s most hard-right members.

I'm going to promote the BTO moneybomb for a while.

I think he is campaigning for Romney's VP. Romney needs a southern conservative like Cain or Rubio.

Do you think Cain's gonna test the waters in a month after Chris Christie jumps into the candidate pool? Perfect opportunity to make this into a political cartoon!

Cain has no real support and no money. He has zero staff in NH and maybe one staffer in Iowa, he has no plan to run.

He's already been quoted as saying that he's never really had a desire to be president, it's just a "challenge" for him so he doesn't get bored.

Sounds like Romney has offered him a position.

Maybe a health problem? His claim is that he's been cancer-free for FIVE YEARS, but I swear I heard him on the radio probably TWO YEARS ago just getting a clean bill of health.

That's not necessarily a contradiction. He probably had to test cancer free for three years before they called it cured.

He hasn't left the campaign trail. He is still talking about his issues, his campaign, etc. He was just on the view.
