wow, good for her. I got the impression that they just tried to vilify her, and did a false conviction.

Yeah there were a lot of weird things in that trial.

The police questioned her for like 50 hours straight, in Italian, without a lawyer and made her sign things and she apperently didn't know what she was signing.
She tried to retract the statements she signed the next day and they didn't let her.
Evidence handling wasn't done properly
Lots of evidence wasn't collected till 46 days after the murder
One of the "witnesses" was a heroin addict who changed his story 5-6 times
When independent analysts went over the evidence they didn't find DNA or blood on the "murder weapon"
The prosecutes mounted a huge attack on her character
There was absolutely no motive established

I don't know if she did it or not, but in any case, she was not given a fair trial at all

Moreover, the prosecution utterly discredited themselves by jumping from wild story to wild story to explain the "motive" for Knox and Sollecito's supposed participation in the murder, from "Satanic ritual" to "orgy-gone-bad" to "drug-deal-gone-bad" with all kinds of variants in between. The utter lack of professionalism here seems pretty staggering to me, like they were just throwing everything they could think of at the suspects with no regard for facts or evidence and hoping something would "stick"- and, unfortunately, they succeeded. Good to see rational thought beat back the tide of hysteria, here.

Yeah the last one was "we have no motive...they did it just because"

American author Douglas Preston moves to Italy and became interested in an unsolved high profile string of murders in the late 60s and 70s.
While investigating the crime so he could write a book, he soon finds himself the prime suspect in connection for the murders.
Murders which happened 40 years earlier. When he was 12 years old. And lived in Massachusetts.
He is alleged to be part of a satanic sex cult, and did the killings for a satanic ritual.
