If our politicians in government had principles to begin with we wouldn't be in the mess we are today.

Good for you Rand. What's right isn't always popular.

That show is terribly liberal. Also very descending tone and not very objective at all.

If Rand makes a statement saying if the industry wants regulations, it can do it itself; instead of externalizing the costs onto taxpayers, it'd be a win. Otherwise, he's just pissing in the wind.

Also interesting that he'd put a hold on this bill, but not the Libya resolution (even before the no-fly language was added last minute - there was still tons of interventionist crap in that thing).

I think Rand learned from that, which is why he's currently putting a hold on a similiar Syria resolution.

The distaste the left has for Rand is truly tragic. I remember thinking that the left would love Rand. Milton Friedman said there are two kinds of leftists, the sincere ones like Ralph Nader, and the ones who use the sincere people to gain a political advantage, like Maddow.

All the leftists like Maddow should get their own little island and see how well that theory works... oh wait, they tried that... it was called the USSR.

Hey good for Joe Sonka getting on Maddow's show.

Why don't they ask the question, if all these companies are for it, why don't the companies do it VOLUNTARILY?

Government cannot protect the people... it is not their job either implied or expressed.

Of course the pipeline industry itself doesn't have a problem with the new regulations ... they probably WROTE the bill. More laws will not keep pipes from exploding. If a company has a pipeline that is deteriorating, then they need to replace the bad pipes, make sure they don't blow-up, or face the consequences of jail time or fines if their pipes blow-up, damage property, injure or kill people. Responsibility is the answer not more laws.

Perhaps I'm wrong. Maybe this is THE law that will fix the pipes. Maybe... just maybe... no way.

Baloney Rachel... Rand Paul is the pro-government Senator... not anti-government as you claim. The Constitution established government. Adhering to the constitution is a pro-government position.

The guest on Maddow was surprisingly thoughtful.

As for Maddow, well... she's just laughable. Easily one of the biggest hacks on television.

Worse than O'RLY?

She takes being smug to an entirely new level. The intellectual condescension, the cliches, the concern trolling, the charade of presenting herself as somehow different from a Blue-team blowjobber; it's all there. At least with O'Reilly, he will not mince words about his lunatic fealty to team Red. For this, I find him more tolerable.

This question is akin to: "worse person: Stalin or Mao?"

Joe Sonka looks and sounds exactly like the douche I expected him to be. His blog was the most inane thing I forced myself to suffer through during Rand's campaign.

Did not know that. This is good.

Any info on what the Syria resolution entails?
