Ugh. That would ruin everyone's best laid plans.

If FL loses half of their delegates that's a good thing for us.

That is true, but what is BAD for us is the push all other early states would make to get to the front of the line. We aren't going to see any exponential rises in the polls, until each other candidate is vetted and tossed aside as a zilch.
A rush forward greatly helps whomever the establishment and the media deem to be the "front-runner" and the Candidate of the Month.

well, i'll be there, whatever day it is. so long as they don't jump ahead of NH and IA (which i believe is not within the rules of the party), we should be fine. if we don't come out of NH/IA very strong, it won't matter what happens thereafter.

This is just a ploy by the GOP.
They see their stars failing in the spotlight, and they are doing anything to push a face in front of the camera to take away from Dr. Paul's momentum.
Before this announcement, I believed slow and steady wins the race but now:
Ron Paul has to start speaking out at debates, has to interject when questions are asked on the real issues!

Iowa, NH, NV and S.C will be before Florida. Georgia are trying to move up, which prompted Florida to consider moving their primary up. The first 4 will not change, anything after that will be submitted on Saturday. Florida would have lost half their delegates anyway, so there is nothing to lose for them. They just gain more early influence.

This one upsmanship about primary dates is silly. Primaries are now a full year before the candidate will take office.

This is terrible news if true. We have pretty much no chance in Florida. I hate to be a conspiracy nut, but this sure seems suspicious when we are doing so well in Iowa.

Always something from Florida... Sounds like we're racing against the clock to get our support up in Iowa, NH, and Nevada. SC will likely go the same way as Florida.

Here are possible scenarios if the early states decide to stay within 2012 and not move into 2011:

The problem with moving Iowa earlier is that there are 2 GOP debates scheduled in Iowa for mid and late January. It wouldnt make any sense to have the caucus in Iowa BEFORE the 2 debates. Hopefully florida gets a major GOP smackdown for this crap. I say take the Republican National Convention out of florida and take away ALL their delegates. They can go first but then it would be worth just as much as winning the straw poll = NOTHING.

Those debates will most likely be rescheduled before the Iowa caucus.

Easy to say, not so easy to do. These candidates have busy schedules set up way in advance. And Im sure they have to reserve the halls that these debates are held in and maybe earlier dates are already taken...

Yes, but wouldn't that put NH, NV, and SC primaries right in the middle of winter break? Would that be an issue for a huge group of his support?

You make a good point. They suspect this will push Iowa back to early January.
