I always get into discussions with my brother and friend about how deregulation actually helps the market and does not harm the consumer. How it helps the big corporations and hurts smaller companies. Any extra ammo that may help?

It's not an article, but Milton Friedman's video series, "Free to Choose" is excellent, and several of the episodes deal a lot with various regulations.

Thanks. For some reason people equate deregulation with lawlessness.

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand. Milton Friedman

Funny quote.

The biggest regulations are actually probably licensure, patents, and copyrights, and those are the ones that are most rarely attacked.

That's funny, Arnold Schwartnegger introduces the series. Kind of ironic, since he fought to keep prop 23, which dealt with greenhouse regulations.

"Privatizing the Chesapeake
After seeing its oyster fishery almost depleted, Maryland finally introduces aquaculture and private leasing."
