Let me preface this by saying I know the banksters/war profiteers perpetuate a much bigger fraud, but still this kind of thing does not bode well.

People in Hartford, CT lining up for money to replace food lost from power outages during Tropical Storm Irene.

Never mind that the storm was 4 weeks ago, and that the power never actually went out in most of Hartford.

Valle, who reached the mid-point of the line after a two-hour wait, said she had heard regular food stamp recipients were not eligible for the program, but she said a friend on food stamps had received $375. She shrugged her shoulders and said, "There's a lot of different information going around. We'll see….I'm still going to give it a try."

Is there no private charities in Hartford ??

Of course there are. But charities/churches are much more discerning in who they give aid to.

People love free stuff. Ever see it when some fast food or restaurant gives away free food? Long lines for something valued at .99 to 2.99.

What I hear from my friend, Bridgeport, CT is pretty bad, with the poverty rate now above 21%. Theft/Larceny/Robberies/Murders all increasing.

There is a ridiculously disproportionate amount of black folks in that line.

Gary, Indiana and Camden, NJ have left Bridgewater in the dust over the last few years, based off national crime statistics. It has gotten better.

On all these lines across the eastern seaboard... it's food/SNAP applications and lost of food reimbursements/replacements from hurricane Irene Aid Bill passed for more handouts to the voters. So, if you had an power outage in your area, you can go to the welfare office and they will pay to refill your refrigerators/freezers/spoiled grains/feed/etc. PHILLY NEWS coverage: http://www.myfoxphilly.com/dpp/news/local_news/Flood_Aid_Eligibility_092711

Under the agreement, announced by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), $2.65 billion would be provided to FEMA next fiscal year - with no corresponding offsets. So, Congress/FEMA borrowed from next year's budget for handouts now, then the Senate and creative accounting increase FEMA's budget for next year by $2.65 Billion, without any offsets to pay for it. Capital Hill doesn't have any remorse sticking more debt to the taxpayers.

Did some research and it's a mixed bag per the state #'s: Bold are increases in crime statistics from 2009-2011 for Bridgeport, CT

Murders: +50%
Larceny & Theft +21.2
Robbery: +7.8%

More UnConstitutional spending , Nowhere in Article One , Section Eight is congress authorized to tax or spend or spend monies stolen from me on feeding these people . This is exactly what private charities/churches etc are for .

There is a ridiculously disproportionate amount of black folks in that line.

I would say that is a pretty good cross section of the Hartford demographic....
If you were to drive through the city, judging it by the people you see on the street, you would think it is 80% or more minorities.

I think I read somewhere that people waited in line on average for 2 hours every day in the Soviet Union. The saying was that if you saw a line, get in it.
