Lest not you think that Rick Perry is the only establishment politician in bed with the big pharmaceutical companies, enter New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. Christie campaigned promising "greater parental involvement in vaccination decisions" Hundreds of concerned parents wrote, emailed and called the Governor's office to remind him of his campaign pledge.
To date nothing has changed. The only way to avoid a flu shot for a child in preschool or day care is to claim a religious exemption. There is no philosophic exemption possible. Even Rick Perry didn't go that far, although he no doubt would have liked to. The first thing that Chris Christie did when elected Governor was to appoint a former pharmaceutical representative as his chief of staff.
