A petition to legalize and regulate marijuana quickly jumped to the top of a the White House's online petition site on Thursday, the first same day it was launched.

The petition, on the White House's "We the People" site, asks: "Isn't it time to legalize and regulate marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol? If not, please explain why you feel that the continued criminalization of cannabis will achieve the results in the future that it has never achieved in the past?"

The White House has promised to issue an official response for any petition that gets at least 5,000 signatures within 30 days. As of Thursday night, the marijuana petition (https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions#!/petition/legalize-and-regulate-marijuana-manner-similar-alcohol/y8l45gb1) already had more than 10,000 signatures.

I wouldn't trust this. Just another way for the government to get more information about us.

Yeah, they already got the official response to the marijuana question. Obama straight up laughed at his own supporters for voting for it.

They already have everything they could ever want on you. Do you buy online? Do you own a cell phone? Do you have Facebook? Do you search for things? They know all they they could ever want to know.... If you think you can hide from them, you are wrong... you might as well speak out about things and voice your opinion because you cannot hide from them...only speak out!

+1

The whole "I don't want the gov to have my email" is such a weak excuse. Guess what, they have it already, along with all your search history and a record of your posts here. If you're so worried, make a spare gmail account for this sort of thing. It takes literally 2 minutes.

If people in Syria and Yemen can go out into the streets and protest tyranny, all the whole being shot at, I think you can sign a fucking petition.
