- Not everyone is participating. Mitt Romney, who spent heavy on straw polls in 2007, has eschewed every one this time. Neither he, nor Michele Bachmann, nor Gary Johnson, will appear on the ballot, and none of them will have a surrogate speak to delegates.

- The ballot: Romney, Bachmann, Perry, Paul, Cain, Santorum, Gingrich, Huntsman. This was not decided based on who showed up. It was decided based on polling.

We're gonna be third if we're lucky.

Aratus

mitt has true deep pockets and he will be speaking in a few hours on mackinac island.
he desperately needs two first place wins or he is a straw poll joke in bland IBM attire.

There is apparently a bunch of mitt work behind the scenes, but I don't think he's plugging for a win. I really think he's planning to save money this time, for when he needs it. Perry needs it more than Mitt does after his roll out.

we are third or second. watch out for herman cain's busses and newt to be shy and retiring
if jeb likes the cut of jon huntsnan's jib as ms.michele may be an afterthought in 4th or 5th.

Any minute now.

easily any time between now and 6 p.m eastern!

Remember this not really a normal straw poll you can't really just bus people in. You had to do the work months ago for this one. You had to be a registered republican by feb and a delegate in June to vote for this thing.

And the party establishment has a substantial block of votes to swing as they like. It didn't go on last cycle because campaigns complained -- primarily McCain's as I understand it, and given he won the primary there, that seems to imply it isn't a very representative format.

I think something like:
1 Paul
2 Romney
3 Huntsman
4 Johnson
5 Bachman

5 Bachman

that's how it might be if it were a grassroots event, but it isn't. Perry will likely win, but Cain was organizing for this when he had his spike and he's a celebrity in Florida from his radio show. We'll see I guess.

Less than brilliant individual being interviewed right now is going to vote for Perry. The ridiculous thing is that he is a small business owner and he seems to believe Perry would be great for small business. The fact is that Perry passed the largest tax increase in Texas history and it was largely on small business owners.

Why won't people even do 5 minutes of googling? Geez.

perhaps a thread title change?
as it is, it feels like you are setting us up for disappointment. "get excited"? about losing?
i know it is the articles title, but think before you post. :)

changed it. It was a sarcastic title, but I can see it leading people on

I wonder why Dr. Paul didn't speak there today?

the two most posted to threads here have us looking up and down bipolar
and the posts have run a rollercoaster ride! admittedly we have no idea
the minute by minute tally of the vote right now and we are both being
optimistic and pessimistic. i feel the debate went well and this is a plus.

There was a thread here yesterday about the 'fix' being in for Perry, and only Perry being allowed to post banners etc. Maybe whatever that was about had something to do with it. I expect we'll find out in the end.

Yeah, Aratus, but a lot of the candidates gave speeches at this deal today. But, Paul isn't there. I am wondering why.

I think the debate isn't going to influence it much. People knew who they were voting for when they went -- except POSSIBLY some who went planning to vote for Perry who might have shaken loose, but if they planned to vote for him with no homework at all, they would seem to be pretty establishment oriented.

Who does this serve? Well, hold on a few hours, and I'll tell you. But if you wanted to devise a way to boost Herman Cain and Rick Santorum, you'd devise this. They called that one.

$175 and $125 a ticket overpriced, elitist, exclusive straw polls are overpriced, elitist and exclusive.
