What an incredible day to be a supporter of Ron Paul!

You have raised over $2 million so far today, putting us closer to our $12 million fourth quarter goal. This is more than any Republican has ever raised online in one day!

So far in 2008, the biggest day belongs to Mitt Romney. On January 8th, he raised just over $3.1 million. Will you help us beat Mitt Romney and raise more in one day than anyone has this year?

Please ensure Ron Paul's place in the record books with your most generous donation: https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate. Tell your friends to donate today, too!

You've all honored your country and your ancestors and now we come to this most distant place in Asia where across from us Darius has at last gathered an army, but look again at this war and ask yourselves, who is this great king who pays assasins in gold coins to murder my father, our king in a most despicable and cowardly manner? Who is this great king Darius who enslaves his own men to fight? Who is this king but a king of air? These men do not fight for their homes. They fight because this king tells them they must. When they fight, they will melt away like the air. But we are not here today as slaves. We are here today... as Macedonian free men! Some of you, perhaps myself, will not live to see the sun set over these mountains today but I say to you what every warrior has known since the beginning of time, conquer your fear and I promise you, you will conquer death! And when they ask you where you fought so bravely, you will answer, "I was here this day at Gaugamela for the freedom and glory of Greece!" Zeus be with us!

Horrible email - bad idea. They didnt think that one through.

I wish they hadnt done that.

I know its correct but its confusing how they say more than any republican online, but then say the day to beat is Romney. Do they know for sure Romney didnt get 2 million of that 3.1 online?

Campaign should have just left today to the grassroots.

Pretty much a given that it wasn't online, because it was Romney's rich friends in a telemarketing operation calling all their rich friends.

That sentence could be misconstrued, lol. Not that there is anything wrong with it of course. To each his own. Individuals should be allowed to do whatever they want as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others. Maybe a hyphen next time, lol.

I don't think it hurts for the campaign to send out an email but it would have been better if they hadn't set a goal. The grassroots organised this day I think they have already set a goal of 12 million :)

Plus perhaps it would have worked better for them to wait until tomorrow and send an email congratulating everyone and asking for more, that way it would continue the momentum?

Anyway it won't hurt and will get more people donating so the total today will be bigger as a result I should think!

No whining today from me. We are doing well, and both the campaign and the grassroots want to keep the steam up. Besides, I'm pretty sure the campaign has a bigger mailing list than me.

I wonder how man RP supporters just got that email and went "WTF? 2 million today!? What's going on? Better go to the internet and look around, because I want to be a part of this."

Bydlak needs to stop setting goals. They screwed up with the 4/4/4 and the broadcast for freedom. Let the grassroots hit the goals, send an email, but don't set expectations you can't control.

Well I really hope with this money they spend some of it on a speech writer. I think they need someone to convert Ron Paul message to make it more palatable to the general public. Some people dont have time to do any real research into RP positions. The public has been lied to for so long the hurdles on the real issues needs to be addressed, the sooner the better

I don't think they set a goal they just asked to beat Willard Romney.

As anyone update Wikipedia's entry for November 5th and added the year 2007?

"Well I really hope with this money they spend some of it on a speech writer. I think they need someone to convert Ron Paul message to make it more palatable to the general public. Some people dont have time to do any real research into RP positions."

I agree. His folksy style works well with the believers but he needs to work on his image for the masses. I've thought PJ Buchanan would be a good hire to work on some stump speeches, If he is willing to do it. It is fine for him to speak his mind at rallies but he should have prepared text at events like the values voters thing. Of course that event was difficult to deal with because of the people living in the middle ages talking about the devil, angles the tooth fairy and the like.
