I dont know if you guys have seen this but this could be a great way to rally support and force the Obama Administration to respond to our concerns. Here is the link to the Online Petitions - https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions.

Also, I submitted one to make Bribery of Politicians Illegal. Please sign and forward to your contacts if you agree!

http://wh.gov/gse

Text:

No corporation should be allowed to give campaign contributions to any politician or political party that is involved in writing or voting on legislation that affects them or the industry they profit from.

In any other scenario giving money to people who are supposed to be regulating something you are doing is considered bribery. If a sports team gives money to the referee before their game - its a bribe. If a defendant gives money to a judge or jury member before his trial - its a bribe. If a criminal gives money to a police officer - its a bribe.

Politics should be no different. Corporations giving millions of dollars to politicians could not create a more clear conflict of interest in policy making - ITS A BRIBE. If the Administration disagrees we would love to hear why

Petitions are nothing more than a way for the petitioner to get your information. You don't want to do this.

I own a house, drive a car, and have a Facebook page - they already have all my information. At least this will force them to at least address this issue that otherwise never even gets mentioned.

I guess they keep up with the counting? Any petitions about the Constitution will get stuck at 4,999 signatures, lol.

Obama will most certainly go down in history as the president who did everything he could to give his administration a sense of accountability from the people . . . . without ever actually allowing himself to be held accountable.

Anyone make a petition to repeal Obamacare? That would be hilarious.

Cant disagree with you there! I think that criticism is likely what prompted them putting this up. Even though the responses will most likely dance around the issues, at least they will be forced to read and think about how to actually respond to questions the PEOPLE find critical - not the administration coddling mainstream media.

@Bern - I actually havent seen that one yet (they have to reach 150 votes before they are searchable on the whitehouse.gov website though) - perhaps you should start one!

Also, Reddit has a thread dedicated to these if you want to see where to find ones that have not hit 150 votes yet:

That'd be great if I didn't think it was just a convenient way to have an automatic list of who dislikes which of his policies, readily available.

Not to assume it's a trap, but I am inclined to not trust government.

History has proven the government to be untrustworthy so I dont think that is an unfair assumption to make. I guess Im just tired of being held down by these concerns. If the people in Syria can march in the streets, I can put my name on a frickin Internet form lol :)

I think I'm going to ask Obama to comment on this 7 years sentence for US soldier who killed Afghan civilians for thrill/cut their body parts as souvenirs.

Should be easy to get 5K signatures to get Obama to respond on one aspect of the "good war" he champions.

"Mr. President, what would you want to say today after this sentencing to the parents of the child who was killed for sport and whose body was dismembered during Afghan war by this convicted soldier?"

Ya, I think it will be pretty tough to dodge that question THIS time with the overwhelming number of signatures. That would really backfire and it IS election year :)
