Why 25,000 Attendees? For those who question how 25,000 Facebook attendees equals $6,000,000, even if we get 25,000 people to attend, there will still be many many times more than that who actually donate. This is taken from The Main BTO Planning & Promotion Thread (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?316961-Black-This-Out-Want-6-000-000-We-Need-THE-ENTIRE-MONTH-for-Promotion-amp-25-000-Attendees)...

GOAL 1: 25,000 Facebook Event Attendees: Judging from the number of people that hit the attend button on each Facebook event and the amount we raised for each bomb, we need to get about 25,000 people to hit that attend button on the Black This Out Facebook event if we plan on getting anywhere near $6,000,000. How did I get the 25,000 attendee goal? Adding the number of attendees from both the Birthday and Constitution Day Money Bomb together, it took 11,523 attendees to raise $3,000,000. So, doubling this number means we'll need 23,046 attendees to raise $6,000,000. We're making the goal 25,000 people just in case we don't make it with 23,000. Also, the Birthday Money Bomb received 7,840 attendees after only a week of promotion. We have four months to get this done. 7,840 times 4 weeks is over 30,000 attendees. This proves 25,000 attendees is ENTIRELY POSSIBLE to achieve, but ONLY if we start RIGHT NOW!

Unfortunately, Ron Paul doesn't do well on Facebook. They're gonna need to ramp up their promotion to a whole new level. 25,000 may be an unrealistic expectation.

I've been keeping a record of the number of attendees we've been bringing in to the Facebook Event Page (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=181997088537471) every day. Let me tell you this thing is starting to explode! If we were to keep only our current pace, we would reach 14,490 attendees on the Facebook event by the end of the 19th, but as you can see by the numbers below, everyday this thing keeps multiplying. Soon we will be pulling in 1,000 people a day! I told you, this is a numbers game. As long as we do the necessary promotion work, WE WILL have another $6,000,000 day. We just need to do the work, so anybody that has been hesitant to join in, now is the time to do so here... Black This Out, Want $6,000,000? We Need THE ENTIRE MONTH for Promotion & 25,000 Attendees (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?316961-Black-This-Out-Want-6-000-000-We-Need-THE-ENTIRE-MONTH-for-Promotion-amp-25-000-Attendees)

I think you are looking at it the wrong way. For example, Constitution Day Money Bomb had 3,683 Attending but over 20,000 people donated. The promoting is key, the numbers will snowball.

Black This Out needs to look past merely limiting itself to Facebook functionality and Facebook audiences. Many people who have Facebook accounts don't necessarily use them, or don't regularly check them. As well, there are other means of social networking now that exist outside of Facebook. If the goal is to reach as many people as possible to get as many potential pledges and ultimately as many contributions as possible, it doesn't make sense to focus this entire initiative on one specific hub. This needs to be expanded to other sources, other hubs.

Google+, for instance, has tens of millions of users already and is growing rapidly--even stealing users from Facebook. Youtube is another big one, but there doesn't seem to be a dedicated Youtube channel, or even regular Youtube videos to promote this. I've seen two videos for Black This Out, and while they are certainly valuable, they could be improved upon to better promote the message and the initiative. The fliers look great, but I don't see much of any effort to organize or let people know how they are best distributed. What about signage or a complimentary signbomb day preceding the Black This Out deadline?

I think there is a lot of potential for this moneybomb to reach levels that more recent moneybombs have not, especially given the theme of this particular moneybomb and recent events with regard to media distortion, spin, and blatant disregard--this is a huge motivator for many supporters of Ron Paul. Capitalize on this as much as possible. And is the main website being kept up to date? October 19th is just around the corner. I think doing everything possible to kick this up to the next gear is necessary to its potential success.

We are using more sites than Facebook. I've never used Google+ but we've been very active on Youtube. We've been thumbing up comments about the bomb and asking current video makers to include annotations in their videos about it. Some people are also using Twitter.

As already pointed out, the facebook number is just being used as a rough metric of total participation, taking into account a lot of people just like me that will never, ever, "facebook" or anything like it.

I'm excited about this one, it's getting good promotion and, more importantly, it has an edgy, "FU Establishment" tone to it that helped make past money bombs so successful.

Also, the promo image does not say anything about a moneybomb. Marketing fail. I'll try to make a better one, but I don't have the source image.. It looks like Justin made this image, so he could easily edit the current graphic to actually tell people that this is a moneybomb. MANY of my Ron Paul facebook friends are RSVP'd as "Not Attending", likely because they had no idea what the event was.

We will reach a critical mass at some point where the number of people who haven't attended becomes sparser and harder to find. That is when we have to promote the hardest to keep the momentum going. The more people attending, the more people getting other people to attend.

Can you "attend" if you're already maxxed out? Maybe that's why Ani's not attending. Also, this summer, some of the paid staff in NH said they couldn't donate because it would be like donating to themselves
Just call in to AJ during his show. Usually, Jeremy or Josh do with current RP news on money bombs, etc.

25,000 x $50 = 1,250,000 for sure, but since most people will give more than usual that might get up to 2 million.

Lets be realistic.

We need 100,000 people and then some including FaceBook to make this turn into something big enough to impact the masses.

I think 25,000 should get us at least $2.5 million but I agree that we should aim for 100,000+ people

We don't have that much time so we should really concentrate all our efforts on this

Then tell me how the constitution day moneybomb raised 1 million with 3,000 attendees on FB. It's because not everyone who donates attends on FB. We are just using FB as a way to gauge the number of donors.

I would take off the Fox logo. It's not just Fox that is blacking out Dr Paul. Plus it's color is off-putting compared to the black and white theme.

Makes sense to add this to the actual event page.

We need to link up to multiple forums on the internet that are pro Paul type forums such as bodybuildingforums.com, alternative health forums, homeschool forums, anti-war forums (possibly), pro gun forums, etc... and spread the money bombs this way. It's all about getting the word out there. I'd love to do this, but with a full time job and family I have no time.

Not to be a downer, but that is an atrocious projection method. There's no way this will grow exponentially, and you've got to account for saturation as well.

I'm thinking that it looks like we'll get between 14,000-20,000 pledges which is an impressive total.

We can hit 25k, remember Ron Paul's campaign wont even mention the moneybomb until after the 30th. So this has been 100% grassroots to this point and look at how many we attending we have!

Certainly that makes sense as the Constitution Money Bomb had as I recall roughly 20,000 actual doners.

I was not even aware of the Facebook during the Last Money Bomb.

I agree though that if we can get 25,000 signers to FACEBOOK that it would be an indication of far more people who would likely be contributing to the BlackOut.

The fact remains if we intend to raise 10 million we want to try our best to get 100,000 people to contribute on Oct 19th no matter if they join Facebook, or not.

I got a call this morning where I was transfered to a voice message by Ron Paul asking for donations before the 30th.

Would still like to know if anyone has asked the official campaign if they will support the moneybomb (after the EoQ push of course). If not, I'm going to try to ask Ron Paul (wishful thinking maybe?) or someone in his staff personally today at Webster Hall.

Idea: Exclusive Black This Out-themed Ron Paul promotion T-Shirts to be sold on 10/19

Grunge-stylized with the B/W Ron Paul from the website with the blackout over his eyes. Thick eroded/splatter text (white/red).

T-Shirt only sold for one day to generate exclusivity, promote the moneybomb initiative, fundraise for RP, and to indicate that those who purchase one "Will not be silenced by the media" or some such.

Is this feasible? And more importantly, would the official campaign be on board?

The campaign tends to pick these kinds of things up on their own, and they must remain independent legally. I believe Trevor Lyman had to quit doing stuff because there was campaign/grassroots overlap. The campaign will pick this up a few days before the actual date. It's worth a try to contact them, but don't be surprized if they don't reply back. We'll most likely have to keep this 100% grassroots.

Honestly, i think the best barometer of success will be the enthusiasm. I remember ready ames fire had big numbers "attending" on Facebook but flopped. However, there has generally been a good correlation between facebook RSVP's and $$ raised.

We're going to hit a treshhold where it's going to be really hard to get new people to accept the event invitation. It wont be a linear growth. We're going to have to eventually change our strategy and reach people a different way. Every local meetup group needs to know about this event. 1/2 of people in local groups aren't on Facebook.
