September 22, 2011 - Perry Leads GOP Pack, Tops Romney 1 On 1 In Florida, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Obama Trails Romney And Ties Perry

Word format

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a small lead over the Republican presidential pack in Florida with 28 percent, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with 22 percent, but Perry tops Romney 31 - 22 percent if Sarah Palin doesn't run and leads Romney 46 - 38 percent in a two- man face-off, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Romney has barely moved since he led the Florida GOP pack with 23 percent in an August 4 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University, while Perry has surged from 13 percent in that survey conducted before he formally announced his candidacy.

All Florida voters disapprove 57 - 39 percent of the job President Barack Obama is doing, his worst score in any Quinnipiac University poll in any state.

We have GOT to do something to increase the level of female support we receive. The male/female ratio is staggering.

True--most women I know like Ron Paul but refuse to support him cuz of his views on abortion

No point in posting any more Florida polls. Ron Paul will not win Florida under any scenario. The state's voting constituency consists mainly of seniors, welfare recipients and hardcore rednecks.

Florida is not a state worth putting lots of resources into. Winner-take-all, primary, and a closed-one at that. We win the other states by doing well in Iowa, NH, NV etc.

Unfortunately you are correct.

Are Florida delegates awarded proportionally? Because that would make it relevant.

But that doesn't make sense. All the republican candidates are anti-abortion.

I really don't think we should be tossing in the towel so quickly in Florida. Gingrich, Cain, Bachmann, etc. are not going to make it to Florida, and we could easily pick up their supporters. Also, there are a TON of undecideds in Florida, which are ripe for the Ron Paul picking. Also, Ron Paul is a senior! Not to mention that our new "He Served" TV ad is going to be aimed directly at the Florida voting demographic.

Florida isn't set yet, so let's stay diligent.

Which is why I know very few GOP women who are under age 55

Unless someone posts stating they were called in and can confirm if they were asked " paul vs. obama" or if people had to mention it themselves, then I am going under the assumption they did not ask about Ron Paul. I was called for the Quinnipac survey in Virginia and was NOT asked, but since I mentioned I would vote for Paul, it was added to the comments section. Either way Take this poll with a grain of salt.

There's a lot of really inept people in Florida. I have to drive on the same roads with them every day. If they vote like they drive, it's going to be rough.

I thought there weren't any winner-take-all states before April as an RNC rule?

way to be positive. even if we don't win it, we need enough to get a proportion of the delegates. that is why EVERY state counts.

There's a difference between positive and delusional. Performing well in early states will probably give RP a boost in Florida, but like others have said - try living here first and then formulate an opinion.
