After listening to the masonic "Rite of Passage" and now this, I'm convinced Dream theater is in the know. Plus, the telling imagery in the video is a dead giveaway ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5Ta6UnNRsI

Standing on the backs of angels
Destined to create
Mounting the attack
While heroes carry your weight

We spiral towards disaster
Survival fading faster

Riding out the wave
Content to feed off the machine
Bleeding us to death
The new American dream

You're blinded by your hunger
Beware your days are numbered

Tears fall from the shameless
Shelter me, guide me to the edge of the water
Selfless are the righteous
Burden me, lead me like a lamb to the slaughter (these verses are very Ayn Randian in that the desperate masses are endangering the lives of the free and productive)

Blurring lines drawn in between
What is right and what is wrong
Victims on the radar string us along

We're on to your agenda
The dead end road to nowhere

Tears fall from the shameless
Shelter me, guide me to the edge of the water
Selfless are the righteous
Burden me, lead me like a lamb to the slaughter

Tears fall from the shameless
Shelter me, guide me to the edge of the water
Selfless are the righteous
Burden me, lead me like a lamb to the slaughter
Selfless are the righteous
Burden me, lead me like a lamb to the slaughter

Many bands of their genre seem to be "in the know" so to speak. Check out bands like Iced Earth and Hammerfall if you have not done so already.

And Dream Theater has met Huntsman. Wonder what they had to say to each other? Huntsman is a big Dream Theater fan.

I got tickets to go see them in October in dallas. Can't wait. I love DT.

However Mike Portnoy writes(used to) most of the lyrics and stuff. He is no longer with the band :(.

I also really like this song. It's about stem cell research and pretty interesting how they take philosophical approaches to the issues and their songs.

They are my favorite band. I'm loving "A Dramatic Turn of Events". Best since Six Degrees. I finally feel like I'm listening to Dream Theater again. It's a shame it took a founding member to leave for that to happen.

There are lots of metal bands "in the know".

Pretty torn on Dream Theater, though. I'd dig a greatest hits album (that I put together, at least), but there's just way too much fluff for me to endorse their discography.

Shadow Gallery is getting better with each new release.
A very rare breed of band, I think.

I know Dream Theater is not a political band but it would be great if they come out endorsing Dr. Paul.
They attract many of well read and educated population and it would be a great boost for Dr. Paul's campaign.

A band that I think might endorse Ron is Megadeth. Their singer Dave Mustaine has appeared on Alex Jone's rado show.

Well Dream Theater is heavily influenced by Rush. Rush as you know were very much impressed by Ayn Rand (so id consider Rush pro liberty). But i like that DT is not a political band , yet they keep giving hints of there pro liberty stance.

Mike Mangini's resume is insane!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Mangini

After graduating from Waltham Senior High School in 1981, Mangini put aside his music studies to pursue a Computer Science major at Bentley College. After graduating Mike started programming software for the Patriot Missile program.[3] At the same time, he was working on a program that studied the links between the human brain and body.

And hes a super nice down to earth guy. I think he fits in the band perfectly. There was a video on youtube of mike talking to some fans in rome and he was just extremly nice. I was very impressed by how he talked to the fans.
