Approximately how long before our financial system collapses?

that's pretty difficult to say with any kind of precision.

But do you think it could happen this year?

Obama is going to do everything in his power to make it look like the economy is not crashing so he can get elected again.

It will die when THEY WANT it to finally DIE.

And as far as WHEN, does it really matter? A Death Sentence is still a Death Sentence.

However, you need to look at the Big Picture. I suspect the Final Goal is a One World Currency, completely controlled by Private Banks. All money will be Digital, everything will be tracked and monitored, and if you dont have a chip, or if they decide to turn off your chip, you end up being completely at their mercy. Of course, a transition will have to occur, but when the transition happens, things may not actually get better as some might expect. I expect that everyone except those who control the issue of their new fiat currency will end up in Financial Dire Straights, and the people will still blame people that dont pay enough in taxes as the primary cause of the economic failure, and the Banksters will always paint themselves to look like they are the Good Guys.

I'm no longer convinced that it's going to collapse all at once. When you lose your job or declare bankruptcy, tshtf for you. You hear about it happening to people second hand, then it happens to someone you know (a co-worker or neighbor), then it happens to a family member, and then it happens to you. Before you now it, tshtf for most of us. No big "crash." Just lives destroyed one family at a time. And then one day we all wake up homeless on the contintent our fathers conquered.

A good indicator will be when the Euro collapses--our currency will follow not to far behind.

We are definitely headed for a cashless society--we are at the halfway mark now.

The US is amazingly resilient. I know people who have been waiting for TEOTWAWKI since 1982 .....

If all money is digital, how will those who are corrupt be able to conceal it? There are too many corrupt people who know they wont always be able to influence the inside authorities on whichever agency oversees the digital currency tracking. There are many influential factions who have hands within the pockets of various authorities, but I think the prospect of tracking currencies scares almost all of them. Not that it is an elite versus common person issue, just that realistically everyone has an incentive for this not to be unilaterally tracked.

Unless the influential players figure they can just swap non-monetary assets when it comes time to make deals.

surely before the election; the question is will the people choose socialism, fascism, or liberty

Using the CBO'S own numbers , I suppose by 2018 , the debt should be so bad , nobody will be interested in our currency .

Whenever financial judgment day happens, it will be in conjunction with the collapse of the Mideast into a major regional conflict, with that WW III context providing the cover for the financial elites to permit the collapse to proceed unimpeded. As early as October, or perhaps a few months beyond, but the timing will coincide with the war.
