So what were the conditions for voting in this straw poll? Did you just have to show up or did you have to be a delegate? From what I have heard, there were 500 or more RP supporters at this event, but he only drew 374 votes. That suggests to me that you had to be a delegate to vote, and that suggests that Ron Paul has a lot of strength in the California GOP organization.

Let's not forget that in 2009, Ron Paul supporters took over the Los Angeles County GOP Executive Committee. They came within one vote of ousting the Chairman in Orange County. In Alameda County (Oakland) they picked up a plurality on the County Committee. Organizational support doesn't automatically translate into votes in the voting booth, but it gives you a big advantage.

So I'm not sure this should be looked at as "just another straw poll."

That's a great write-up! If Perry can't organize 375 supporters in California to win a Republican straw poll, how can he beat Obama?

btw, I wish our own country's media would call us backers instead of fans.

Agree, epic pic, let the captions begin! :D

The straw poll was open to registered Republicans who paid the $90 convention registration fee.

anyone know if C4L subsidized any of it? Not that it's important or anything

C4L has pretty much put an ethics wall up where the campaign is concerned. They don't want FEC trouble and want to be there when Ron's campaign is over, one way or another.

But some of the tickets were covered for students. As I'm sure Perry's pac did too. The Perry kids were uniform and the signs were uniform and matched the shirts, and someone paid for it.

Isn't the guy on the left the same guy whose back of head was in the Perry-arm-grab picture?
It was his body-guard then?
Ha!
