Become a Delegate!
Posted on July 23, 2011 by Cleaner44

The only way for Ron Paul to become President is if he gets the GOP nomination; The only way for Ron Paul to get the GOP nomination is if we become delegates. As delegates, we’ll be voting to pick the GOP nominee just like the electors in the electoral college vote to pick the President; Delegates determine and decide who the GOP nominee it’s that critical!

There hasn’t been a brokered convention for more than 60 years! And the good news is that Ron Paul doesn’t have to win a single state to get the GOP nomination; He just needs to win the delegates! So your delegate vote will count that much more; In other words, Ron Paul can secure the GOP nomination with your vote!

Find out if your state has a primary or caucus for the Republican party candidate selection process. Use this handy page which lists each state, and make sure your state’s system hasn’t changed (generally, it will be the same rules from last time). Register to vote as Republican and attend your primary elections to vote for Ron Paul in those states. If you live in a caucus state, this is where the delegate process all starts!

You typically start at your precinct (district) convention as a delegate and work your way up to state, and finally, the RNC; But it may even be as easy as calling your Secretary of State Elections Division, signing some forms and getting signatures! Ron Paul supporters will walk through rain, snow, ice, fire, hazardous waste for this revolution so performing the aforementioned will be a cakewalk.

The GOP nomination will ultimately be decided at the 2012 Republican National Convention which will take place August 27, 2012, in Tampa, Florida at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Please watch the video below and peruse the instructions on how to become a delegate for Ron Paul. Afterwards, get together with your family, friends, local Meetup groups (use the Freedom Atlas to find a local “meetup”) to discuss and organize how to flood your conventions with Ron Paul delegates.

If we don’t become delegates, then Ron Paul will not get the GOP nomination. If Ron Paul doesn’t get the GOP nomination, then the Ron Paul Revolution is OVER. Don’t let this happen: Become a Delegate!

What is a Delegate?

A delegate is essentially a super-voter; They get to vote for the GOP nominee. Regular voters will ONLY be voting to determine the number of delegates for the candidates in your state Primary (or caucus); Regular voters can’t vote for the GOP nominee. Remember, our system of government is a republic and not a democracy. Now you can understand why it’s so important to become a delegate because delegates determine who the GOP nominee is!

Why is it Important to Become a Delegate?

Delegates control everything in their party, from the bylaws and platform to even what candidate gets to run on their partys ticket. Yes the delegates can actually control what candidates get placed on the ballots.

This is complete control of the party and gives us the tools we need to take the GOP and every other party back to it’s roots.

How Do I Become a State Delegate? (necessary)

1. Register to vote today as a Republican. The sooner the better, because there will be pre-registration deadlines to meet generally a month or two before the caucus. You will need to check your county or state for specific dates, because these vary.

2. Vote in your Caucus and run to be a delegate to the Republican state assembly who represents your county precinct.

3. It all starts at your precinct so peruse your state’s delegate process to the RNC (Republican National Convention) This is optional if other Ron Paul supporters are also running for the RNC in your state. You can just vote for them instead of running yourself.

It’s critical that we become delegates or all our hard work will be in vain.
Become a delegate and we’ll get to hear Dr. Ron Paul giving his Inaugural Address in 2013

How Do I Become a Delegate to the Republican National Convention for My State? (optional)

There are 3 options to choose from in order to get information on how to become a delegate to your GOP conventions.

Please consider doing all 3; If that’s too much, pick the one you’re most comfortable with. Perform the “Strategies For Success” below to solidify your chances of becoming a delegate. Once again, you can meet other delegates who have been through the ropes using the Freedom Atlas. Many new delegates are networking on the Facebook page created to help network Ron Paul Delegates, and that is a great first place to ask if you have more questions!

Option 1) Contact your RPCC State Coordinator—Ask how you can become a Ron Paul delegate.

Option 2) Organize with others in your local meetup (ronpaul.meetup.com) and get current and former delegates to talk about the delegate process. By having a majority of Ron Paul supporters, you’ll easily get all your delegates to the next phase.

Option 3) Look over your state rules and process (step C below). Next, contact your County GOP organization (step C below) and ask for information on how you can become a delegate to the GOP Conventions and for the rules for all the conventions (especially precinct convention).

“Strategies for Success”

NOTE: Please keep in mind that rules vary between states.

A) Since you’ll be elected as a delegate, it’s good to do some voter identification (who’s gonna vote for you) in your precinct. Show how dedicated you are as a Ron Paul supporter by going out there and talking to people!

Click here for the ‘bread and butter’ instructions on getting elected as a delegate in your precinct (district). Also see Ron Paul Canvassing.

An even better way would be to look up all Ron Paul contributers in your zip code. Once you have your list, just contact them about becoming a delegate or ask them to vote for you as a delegate since they’re already supporters!

B) When it comes time to get elected as a delegate, please know the following like the back of your hand:

a) Read and know the rules of your precinct convention (if you have one): See General Guide to Conducting a Precinct Convention (PC).
b) The permanent chairman at your convention is ALWAYS elected. Do not let them tell you otherwise.
c) The delegates are ALWAYS elected. Do not let them tell you they have already been chosen. See: Robert’s Rules of Order for delegate tips and tricks.
d) You have rights so do not let them railroad you. If you feel members are being unfair, know your rules (See: Robert’s Rules of Order). The precinct convention is kind of like court—you can say objection, point of order, etc. Here are some basic but critical ones: objection (object to anything unfair), point of order (say this to make a point), point of inquiry (say this to interject at any time), division (say this when you want to call a standing vote against a decision), I nominate myself for a delegate position (get yourself nominated as a delegate), I second that (self-explanatory), I appeal to the assembly (if all else fails, say this to declare unfairness and state your reason and solution), etc.
NEVER GIVE UP! You WILL be a delegate for Ron Paul!
e) Make sure all delegate names are on the delegate sheet and make copies of the paperwork. If you can’t make copies, handwrite all copies, make sure they’ve been signed, get the permanent chairman to certify them as correct and take pictures of the paperwork. This is proof in case the paperwork is lost.

NOTE: You generally have to vote in your state primaries to be eligible to become a delegate so please check your state’s date on the right below and mark your calendars.

C) Review your state process below for becoming a delegate to the Republican National Convention (RNC).
Remember, the National Convention is NOT the same as the State Convention.

Learn Parliamentary Procedure and Roberts Rules of Order!

If you’re going to be an effective delegate, it’s highly recommended that you learn Parliamentary Procedure. Sometimes the party will change the rules, and this is to stifle debate. The party leadership may or may not support Ron, and could even try to actively exclude participation!

This means you want to learn how he proceedings are held, and what you need to do to make certain things happen at the state assembly. This page is a great first start at learning the “Roberts Rules of Order” http://www.robertsrules.org/

“The application of parliamentary law is the best method yet devised to enable assemblies of any size, with due regard for every member’s opinion, to arrive at the general will on the maximum number of questions of varying complexity in a minimum amount of time and under all kinds of internal climate ranging from total harmony to hardened or impassioned division of opinion.”
Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised [RONR (10th ed.), Introduction, p. xlviii]

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask a member of the RonPaulForums , or DailyPaul for help, or contact the Republican party in your area!

A big thanks to the trailblazers who became delegates for Ron Paul in 2008! Credit for this information from the original source online from the last presidential election!

The establishment will have an absolute FIT if Dr Paul is part of a debate with only 2 or 3 participants. They will go to any length they can to stop that from happening. It's not so far fetched to think that they would actually stoop so low to cancel the debates after January or February, considering the other things they have done this election cycle.

Do you think we need to eliminate the entire national debt?
I think that would be advisable in the long-run, but obviously that cannot be completed in the short-term. Let us at least begin moving in the right direction by attempting to balance the budget by drastically reducing our spending and our need to borrow money from China and Japan to sustain our bloated expenditures.

If not, how much do we need to reduce it by to ensure sustainable growth?
I think that if we begin paying down our debt rather than increasing it, then that is inherently sustainable. Increasing our debt ad infinitum is inherently unsustainable when trying to retain a stable economy, including global purchasing power and the strength of our currency.

What do you think the government can do to grow the economy in the near term?
The first thing to do would be to immediately halt our international imperialism, saving hundreds of billions per week on the costs of war and occupation, as well as bringing many thousands of working-age veterans back and reintroducing their capital into the economy. This would also allow us to cut our military spending by a great deal as we restore our military to the job it was intended for which is national defense instead of international offense and imperialism.

When does "super inflation" kick in, exactly?
That is largely up to the Federal Reserve. Like Germany in the early 1920's, if we continue to allow the Fed to print more and more money and provide bailouts to American and international corporations alike to bandage our economic woes (instead of letting the market correct itself), the problem of inflation will continue to increase exponentially. Eventually the American people and the global community completely lose faith in the dollar and interest rates are forced to skyrocket and our monetary system will be destroyed.

Which particular Federal Reserve intervention are you referring to in the first paragraph?
Their aforementioned printing of money, thus the devaluing of our currency and the creation of artificial interest rates resulting in unwise investment as well as loose and standardless lending by the banks whose reserves have been artificially inflated.

How does morality possibly enter into your complaints about the size and scope of government?
I'm a little surprised that this question must be asked. Oppression has been exercised throughout history by countless governments that received too much power and grew too large. A more direct answer to your question, and one I'm confident you won't agree with, is that the government arose out of necessity for the individual to protect his right to liberty, his property, and his faculties. The government being a defense of the individual and an extension of the rights of the individual within those bounds, therefore, should morally limit it to those bounds. When the government instead participates in the plundering of one's property (income tax is a good example), or infringes upon one's liberty (by enforcing laws based upon what the government defines as "moral" or "just"), then they have entered into immoral activity that is directly contrary to its role.

What are the most broken government programs and what is broken about them? How did they break?
Social security is the most obvious example, imo. The American people have been deceived into thinking that they are paying in each month to a system that will return their investment within interest to them once they retire. Instead, due to the government's outlandish spending, this money that is being paid in is being used to pay for all sorts of government programs and the program itself will be bankrupt long before I retire, even though I have already spent several years paying into it. Forced involvement in social security is theft in the first place, I believe. But when even the promise of what is being done with our stolen money is violated the brokenness of the program is that much more glaring.

What are the least broken government programs? Should we cut those, too?
Some government programs should be maintained. National Defense, as I talked about above, can be fixed and very safely have their budget greatly diminished while actually increasing its efficacy in its stated and intended purpose.

Can you provide any kind of systematic study or analysis suggesting that welfare programs foster an "entitlement mentality"?
I don't know of any specific studies, no. But I do understand that capitalism, which is the economic ideology of the incentive system and the opposite of the socialist welfare system, has been able to produce economies such as the US economy throughout much of the 20th century that not only produced an insane GDP and an unheard of standard of living but also lead the world in innovation and technology. I also can observe the behavior around me which suggests as people become less and less driven by financial incentive and more and more by the expectation of handouts they become less productive and less fulfilled. I know many people who actually boast about working under the table while exploiting the unemployment system. I also know many more people who think that any job outside of their college major, or any job that doesn't pay spectacularly, or any job that does not offer 40 hrs./week is "beneath" them. As the entitlement mentality becomes more prevalent, so do these attitudes and these behaviors.

Can you even define "entitlement mentality?"
I believe it sort of defines itself, but I'll try to word it another way. The health of a capitalistic economy is dependent upon the people within it having ambition for success according to one's own abilities and confidence in the possibility that that success is attainable with enough effort and perseverance. When the inferred message (as inferred by a large portion of the population) from the government of a so-called capitalistic society is that effort and ambition are not required to sustain oneself, but rather that they may exist and sustain themselves according to the effort and ambition of others by the usurpation of said others' property, then the "entitlement mentality" has been arrived at.

Why didn't welfare reform and other spending cuts in the 1990s counteract that mentality (or do you think they did)?
I believe that the welfare reform act especially was a step in the right direction, but the system is still seriously overblown.

Why didn't the recent deluge of cuts to state and local governments counteract that mentality (or do you think they did)?
If the system is still such that it can be easily exploited by people who do not want to work then that mentality is still going to prevail.

What do you mean when you say welfare programs cause class warfare? Do you mean the rich hate paying for them and so they vilify the poor? Or if the poor are attacking the rich, what does welfare possibly have to do with it?
If I took a twenty out of your wallet without your permission and gave it to some dude you had never met would you not feel a hint of resentment toward the recipient of your hard-earned money? The recipient of this money, since he does not carefully consider or appreciate its source, at the same time feels resentment toward the very person his welfare is coming from since his wealth is so much greater than his own.

Contrast this with the traditional and much healthier, imo, standard practice of care for the poor, unemployed, disabled, or otherwise disadvantaged being supplied by the family, church, or community. In that case, the contributor gives his money out of compassion and care for the disadvantaged, so obviously he feels the opposite of resentment. And the recipient of the wealth knows its source and shows gratitude and appreciates it. This is the way in which philanthropy most effectively exists and in the way that most effectively promotes understanding between the classes.

Or how about being able to vote for a runner up choice?
As a person who firmly believes that every voter should vote upon principle, this would only be appropriate if you sincerely agree with "runner up choice" in their positions and would support them as the leader of your country.

Like you wanted to vote for a third party candidate, but as you know his odds arent good you get to vote for a runner up, like a Republican or Democrat. If people who voted for Nader and other third party candidates during the 04 election were allowed to do this it would have helped Kerry a lot.
This whole supposition is that a person votes for somebody because they think he can win a victory for his party. This is such a disappointing, though prevailing, way for our country to look at political decisions. However, your suggestion would be at least a step in the right direction of allowing us more than two (typically) very similar candidates to choose between.

It would probably give people more confidence to vote when they wouldn't have otherwise.
In what way, and among whom?

On the negative side it would make counting votes more difficult, and it's already a convoluted mess. If the counting of votes is a convoluted and erroneous system, that is absolutely not the reason to avoid reforming the choices a voter has.
