would this not reach millions upon millions of people all over the world? a 30 or 60 second ad spot.

Too late in the game, too expensive. It's about Iowa and NH.

Instead of us on forums talking about television ads we need to have good material on Ron Paul and talk to thousands of people as well as build relationships with influential people.

Every year this suggestion is made. And sorry to say, it's a bad one.

Advertisements need to be targeted at likely GOP voters so you get the most bang for your buck.

This is a must if it's possible. However it will cost $3mil or more for a 30sec ad.

Winning is most important.

Welcome to the forum Kyle, and I agree there are much more cost-effective ways to get votes than a super bowl ad. In fact IIRC FOX will not sell air time during the super bowl for political purposes.

The first demographic priority is women over 55 years old, likely to vote republican. I don't think they watch the Superbowl. Ron polls pretty bad among women in general 5%/17% in one poll i saw a couple of months ago. This needs to change.
We need to target advertising in women's magazines, health magazines and local newspapers. Women read those publications much more than men and the cost to advertise is much less than on TV.

Of the 34 Millions U.S. females over 55 there are 11 million are on Facebook.

Great point and the advertising is free there. We need to friend them all!

How many successful campaigns have done Super bowl ads?

There's your answer.

Yes and no. I do think that, if they could and if the timing were better, you'd see people all over this.

As has been stated before, though:

1. The cost is very high.
2. Political ads are prohibited, so we'd have to be extra sneaky in order to put out what would have to be an incredibly vague ad.
3. Many state deadlines will have already passed, making converting all that new recognition into primary votes, delegates, and caucus attendees, difficult to say the least.
4. Ron Paul already has name recognition. We need people doing what I just mentioned in #3.

I do think ad buys would be a good idea during NCAA football games, though. I'm not sure what the various networks' take is on political ads. I do know that certain games (think various SEC rivalries, or the night game on the major networks) get an awful lot of viewers.
