In my hometown, you can still take empty soda cans to the aluminum recycling company and they will pay you a percentage based on the weight of the cans you bring in. My local group is starting a "Recycle for Ron" fundraiser by saving all of our soda, energy drink, and beer cans so we can recycle them and donate the money to the campaign. One member of our local group even suggested he was going to have a beer pong event and all the cans would go towards "Recycle for Ron" and he would charge $1 a head to play. He has monthly tournaments and has made some pretty good money doing it. Just a couple of ideas to help raise money to "restore common cents". :)
