Some specifics about this poll:

From September 8 - 13, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,230 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.8 percentage points. Live interviewers call landlines and cell phones. The survey includes 332 Republicans with a margin of error of +/- 5.4 percentage points and 447 Democrats with a margin of error of +/- 4.6 percentage points.

The survey of republican candidates came from 332 Republicans, with a margin of error 5.4% -- I wouldn't put too much stock in that poll. I'd say 7% would be a much more believable number.

So only one of the days was after the last debate. Not really indicative then I guess. CT just must be one of those "interesting" states

Yea... CT has a lot of establishment elite living there, too, don't forget.

Conn isn't a lost cause, but its close.

It will be tough. Since CT is a blue state, I would imagine a large portion of the republican base to be blue republicans. Connecticut is also home to a lot of the rich and the well-connected -- in other words, the establishment vote.

Still, the sample of Republicans being just above 300, I don't believe this poll is anywhere near unbiased. I mean, Ron's 3% is within the margin of error of 0, essentially (with their margin of error, anything below is 5.4% could be no different from zero). Bogus, very much bogus.

They're there. Remember Schiff not only finished last, but also ended up below a candidate that dropped out months prior to the primary vote.

Exactly. You have the elitists and then the huge disparity with the remaining working class immigrants, union workers, teachers, inner city folks, etc automatically voting Democrat.

Is it closed primary? Did they only poll gop in the primary question? I'll look at that, later.

I think Santorum is at 1% but listed above Paul for whatever reason...so yes, Santorum is disgusting...but Ron is ahead here...Romney is crushing here but CT is a big financial/elitist state, no surprise here...

It seems to me that Ron Paul does better with voters in the Plains and Mountain West, the struggles appear to be on the coast....

Yes sir - closed primary, and they did only poll the GOP voters in the primary question, which numbered just above 300.

This really isn't that bad of news as you'd initially think.

1) Paul has not put any time, effort or money into CT yet.

2) This poll shows Romney in 1st with 37%, followed far behind by Perry (2nd - 19%), followed far behind by Bachmann (3rd - 8%), followed closely by Palin (4th - 4%), followed immediately by Paul, Cain and Gingrich who are tied for 5th with 3% each.

- With those numbers, you can pretty much say that Paul, Gingrich, Cain and Palin are tied for 4th and battling for 3rd.

That's not that bad. In other states, before Paul started to campaign (Iowa and New Hampshire) he struggled with Gingrich and Cain until finally breaking through after putting an effort into those states. So the fact that he's down low with those two candidates in a state he hasn't campaigned in is really not surprising news at all.

Also, third place is well within striking distance. Just wait until Ron Paul starts campaigning in Connecticut.

New England is very populated and it is absolutely necessary that we win these Republicans over. A few email blasts from Schiff could bring that number up a bit. Also, I don't think Ron Paul has ever visited the state.

Yeah. It's very populated... with Democrats. Other than NH, not one state in New England is going to make this campaign. Worry about Conn after IA, NH, NV, LA, SC and a whole bunch of other places.

That's not too surprising. Luckily, CT hardly matters when it comes to getting the nomination. And if I remember right Ron only got about 4% of the primary vote here last time around.

Ct is probably a lost cause. You have lots establishment Republican elites, who are all going to vote Romney, they know of him somewhat as governor of Mass. Then you have all the poor in the cities who are going to vote D and for Obama. There is a huge disparity there and not too much middle class.
